Breakfast/Brunch places near Smithtown, Selden, Mt Sinai?
We don't really go out to eat for breakfast, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a place near Smithtown-Selden-Mt Sinai.
Preferrably not so small or jam packed with people. My DS hates when it is seriously loud and crowded, lol.
TIA

If you don't want seriously loud and crowded, I would avoid Maureen's Kitchen at all costs. We've waited over an hour on Sunday mornings.

I've heard great things about Toast in Port Jeff. There is also Taste in Sayville.

Does 3 Village Inn do breakfast? That's Stony Brook. It would be a quiet environment if they do.

Re: Breakfast/Brunch places near Smithtown, Selden, Mt Sinai?
The two times we went to Maureen's kitchen, we made sure to get there before 9. First time it was great. No waiting, food was good but after all the raving I heard, I was expecting a lot better, service was good, we sat on the outside area so it was quiet.
Yesterday we went and got a terrible table right by where everyone was walking past, the waitress asked for our order three times in two minutes, when my husband stopped a busboy to ask him where the restroom was, he had to go ask someone else to translate because he didn't understand english and then the waitress came to the wrong table to ask if they needed help instead of us, when I finally found the restroom myself, the floor was slimy, there were moths flying around and it smelled. Add that to the sugar that was rock hard inside the glass canister, that they don't put splenda or equal out on the table - only sweet n low, and that I kept getting bumped by people walking by and we weren't happy.
Sorry for the vent, it was just too good an opportunity to b*tch about it since it was fresh in my mind.
I wish I could give you another suggestion that is better! I'm looking for a good place myself. There is a pretty good diner I've eaten at on Route 25A in Mt. Sinai. I think it's called the Heritage Diner?
There's a really good buffet brunch place on Route 25A in Smithtown called the Garden Grill but I remember it being a little pricey.

Re: Breakfast/Brunch places near Smithtown, Selden, Mt Sinai?
I usually go to maureen's on a stray weekday when I'm off....
Toast in port jeff is good (actually better food and DEFINITELY better coffee than maureen's), but there's also a wait. I believe it's also cash only...
we don't mind the wait becuase we can just walk back home and return when our names are up.... but for non-townies, you may end up at starbucks instead!
It's across from the PJ village post office
oh, I should add that while it's very good, it IS small, and can be crowded, so it may not be good for your DH....
Danfords in port jeff? it's $$$, but it has a huge buffet every sunday.

Re: Breakfast/Brunch places near Smithtown, Selden, Mt Sinai?
like I mentioned earlier, the food (omlettes / pancakes / sandwiches) are great, but it IS a small place (seats under 30) and it's packed... so your DS, who doesn't like that type of environment, likely wouldn't like it.....

Re: Breakfast/Brunch places near Smithtown, Selden, Mt Sinai?
We actually ate at Maureens this morning. We know one of the waiters so we don't have to wait on line. ( I know its not fair to everyone else but I guess thats what friends are for ?? ) The food is always tasty, yes it does get a little crazy with the people walking by certain tables that are not positioned right. I would suggest trying it at least once. It wouldn't always be sooo crowded if it was not good.
We ate at Taste in Sayville last week and the service absolutely sucked. We should have known when we walked in and two waitresses were literally yelling at each other right in front of everyone. To top it off the waitress NEVER put our order in!!! We wound up getting our meals for free. The food though was great.

IMO Maureen's is overated, I like JT's Corner Cafe on Smithtown Blvd in Nesconset much better and they take credit/debit cards. Maureen's only takes cash
