Breast biopsy
My mother in law had an abnormal mammogram that they think may be cancer. She has to have a biopsy done. She spends half her time in NC and half her time here. She is intending to get the biopsy done in NC where she is currently but come back for treatment if she needs it. My question is, do you think there is a benefit to getting the biopsy done here or conversely a risk to having it done there. It worries me a little because she is not in a super busy area of NC. I would prefer she come back even for the biopsy but she isn't sure where she would go here. Anybody know about this? Any thoughts? Her sister lives down there near her but all her children are in LI.

Breast biopsy
She should get it done as soon as possible. Just tell her to be sure to make the staff give the local anesthetic time to work before starting. If it is cancer and not a cyst, she can bring or send the results to a doctor her mamo doctor recommends. I had my lump biopsied immediately after a mammogram, then had the results sent to a surgeon. I also brought them to a second surgeon for another opinion.
If she is going to be up here soon, she can get seen by a surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering either in NYC or one of its satellite centers.
North Carolina had some excellent medical centers in several areas. She can probably drive to them from where she lives. I drove into NYC from the east end - 90 miles - for treatment. I think where you are treated does make a difference.
