Breast Feeding / Pumping Awkward Question
Hi all!
I just introduced myself a minute ago and I already have a question!
DD only likes to breastfeed on my right side. My left nipple in inverted and she HATES it. I've tried the nipple shield and everything. So I figured I would feed her on the right and pump on the left, only now my right breast is starting to get bigger than the left.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Admittedly I am pumping less on the left than I am breastfeeding on the right.
Does anyone know how I would go about evening out? Would it get better if I tried to pump for the exact same amount of time that she nurses?
Thanks so much!

Re: Breast Feeding / Pumping Awkward Question
you'll get a better letdown and build your supply more if you pump at the exact same time as she is nursing.
however have you tried pumping for a minute or so on the left and then having her latch?
i had flat nipples and DH had trouble latching, but once i was BFing for a while, they stuck out more and he had no trouble.

Re: Breast Feeding / Pumping Awkward Question
Thanks for the answer! I've tried to pump it and then put her on the breast but she didn't like it. Now that I think of it, since that one produces less milk maybe I pumped too long on it and she wasn't getting anything. I will try again today.
I haven't tried pumping while she is nursing. I will give that a shot too.
Thanks!

Re: Breast Feeding / Pumping Awkward Question
I would pump the left while she nurses on the right. I built a full supply for twins pretty much exclusively using my hospital grade pump so it can be done Good luck

it's a pain but it's worth it. what kind of pump are you using? like melissa said, you'll get the best results from a hospital grade pump or something like the Medela Pump In Style Advanced

I have the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. When she wakes up I will try doing both at the same time.

Definitely get a hands free nursing bra-then you can just put it on that one side and be able to maneuver your baby with both hands. I had the easy expressions one...
