breast infection
2 hours before the ball came down last night I got really cold and feverish. My left breast towards the chest wall was killing me and I realized I had a clogged milk duct. So, I read in all the books how to put heat on it and then I pump my breast milk and am taking Motrin. Today I finally called the doctors office since my fever is up to 101.5 and she is starting me on Keflex 500mg 3x aday for a week. Is there anything else I should do?

Re: breast infection
Keep pumping and nursing. Don't stop ...you need to work thru the pain right now. OUCH!!! Warm compresses will help. Warm showers will help. Take your meds. This does happen sometimes.
I unplugged my own duct. But you have a fever and that is an infection more likely than a plugged duct. to unplug the duct I sterlized a small pin and literally squeezed by breast until I could see which was plugged. I massaged and massages the "hard ball" feeling plug and then popped it with the pin. I am NOT saying to do it but I could not stand it anymore so I had to do it.
Feel much better soon!!!!!

Re: breast infection
i had it bad and it only lasted 1-2 days - but take all the antibiotics.
What I started doing was pumping once a day for 20+ minutes and massaging my breasts while pumping - to make sure all lumps were out.
I think I would let your OB/MW look at it, not sure if I would take a pin to my breast...
