Breast milk is allready diminishing
I called my lactation nurse and Im on Fenugreek, but my supply is really low, I barely get an ounce when I pump for 15 minutes. I know why now when DD was on me for over an hour and was still hungry, had to give her formula. she has been getting both since birth. Its totally my fault too, I took it for granted when I would pump out 6 ounces last week in 10 minutes that I didnt pump or get her on me for hours and hours. Besides the fenugreek anyone else have this problem or know what else I can do to get it back up or is it too late?
I am also pumping every 2-3 hours, I do the massage and use hot compress before trying to nurse and or pump. TIA

Keep pumping every 2-3 hours and you can try Power Pumping...You pump for 10 minutes then take a 10 minute break and do that for an hour.
Eating oatmeal in any form is suppose to help as well.

Its totally normal for you to only get an ounce or two while pumping. If your DD is pooping and peeing the right amount of times then she's getting enough.

Are you drinking enough water? I remember when I was pumping my supply would increase and decrease depending on my water intake.

I used to get 3 ounces from each breast in 10minutes, and then at least 2 to 2 1/2 now Im down to 1 ounce and DD is not getting much from me, she is still hungry. I cant go by poopy diapers she only poops 1x a day, dr said thats normal. but pees a lot, but she is not BF much, she fusses b/c nothing is coming out. she is on for like 10 minutes now and fights me. so I have to give her a bottle. she falls asleep on me too, I dont want to give up but I dont know what to do.
oh and Rach yes I am drinking a ton of water.

I had the same thing though. I started being able to pump less and less. I used to be able to pump 8 oz from each breast and now I don't even get 1 oz. How much formula does she drink? When did you start supplementing?

she drinks at least 2 ounces of formula. we had to start her right away on formula b/c I had gestational diabetes and she was being monitered as well for her sugar levels and my milk wasnt coming in so they had to feed her and prick her foot to check her sugar for 2 days . she latches on thank goodness but she is not satisfied and falls asleep. she was on me literally for 2 hours the other day suck/sleep and was crying and crying after so I gave her formula and she took 2 ounces thats when I realized she isnt getting much or nothing at all from me. she is also a lazy eater on my breast, she falls asleep in 4 minutes and you cant wake her up for nothing!
are you still bf? and then if we pump less and less then that means no storage then right?

Re: Breast milk is allready diminishing
My daughter is 9 1/2 months now and I was breast feeding full time up until about 7 1/2 months. Being back at work after 3 months took a toll on the amount of milk I was producing. Now she only gets breastmilk in the am, rest is formula. The best thing to do is keep pumping and every opportunity you get to feed her do so, that is the best way to keep it up.

I'm still BF. I BF all of my kids actually. If I were you I'd BF her first when she's hungry, then give her formula if she still seems hungry. If she only Bfs for a little bit I'd pump right after to keep your supply up.

Rest, water and keep pumping. But I was told to give a few hours in between so you can actually produce the milk. Also, the lactation nurse in the hospital told me to pump for 2-5 minutes past when you stop seeing milk come out -- it is supposed to trigger the production of more milk.

Re: Breast milk is allready diminishing
Which LC are you seeing?
What pump do you have?
Get yourself a hands free bra and that wll really help you. $32 and you don't have to hold the breastshields while you pump. Eat oatmeal and drink water! Are you dieting at all? That can really hurt a supply. I started taking an herb called More Milk that has feenugeek, blessed thistle and other milk production herbs. Also staring at the bottes praying for more milk ( I have done that before) will hurt. You need to just relax and watch TV or read a book or hold the baby. HUGS!! It took me 1 full month of pumping (with NO supply at first) till I had my supply established and Molly was off formula.
