Breast MRI update-evening update
all is A OK!
Whew!
Now the oncologist has to talk to Dr. Davis and figure out what protocol I will be on. Then I have to figure out how much will be out of pocket and how to pay for it, then get going!
I feel so much better.

Re: Breast MRI update
I spoke to the doc. He wants me to talk to doc Davis about what he feels my risks might be. The Surg Onc has never had a patient with my history go on to get pregnant. I need a doctor to give me the right risk assessment. Dr. Davis may refer me to a doc at Sloan.
I'll call him tomorrow.
One more hurdle before we begin. Frankly, no one wants to take the responsbility for me to go on and have my hormones so high after a stage 0 occurrance.
I may need one more specialist..

exactly. The onc was supposed to weigh in on this and he totally flaked. Liability bull crap.
I went through the consult, the MRi and then waited two freaking weeks to find out eveything is ok and for him to talk to Davis and now...nada...back to where I was 4 weeks ago.
grrrrrr...It's always the same..we are in control of our health. We can't depend on doctors.

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
Spoke to Davis. He referred me to a medical oncologist at Cornell. I see her on Oct 1. He says I will still be fine to cycle in oct/Nov and not to worry. He said, health first.
This doc happens to be the doc of all docs to deal with this type of stuff. I did some reading on her. Cool..
Let's hope this is the last step before I can jump on the IVF bandwagon.
eta: doc doesn't take insurance..right..of course..Cornell.

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
Good good, he's right health first. Oh you want a doctor that takes insurance, but why when you can pay so much out of pocket

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
oh for sure.
DH thinks that I am wishing cancer on myself by going crazy like this.
He says I'm acting like I had cancer or have it now.
Um..no. But thanks for your concern.
Ya see..only you..we are the only ones responsible for ourselves. In the end, you only have yourself.
Sorry for the downer, but that's how I feel right now.

You are being cautious and your RE is guiding you. Its not you, its your doc. Men! They never get it. Lucky for them we do.

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
I'm sorry you are so down about this, but you are doing the right thing.
Sadly, it really raises your stress level, but hopefully when all is said and done you will have a baby of your own to show for it!

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
my therapist gave me the name of someone at North Shore who may be a good doc for me as well.
I just feel at this point, I should go with the big docs at Cornell.

Do you have any out of network coverage? I just met my deductible (and of course I realize the year only has a few months left, never paid attention to deductibles before).

Re: Breast MRI update-evening update
yes, I get 70% back and I haven't met my deductible.
This doctor's fee is $600.
of course it is..why would it be any less?
Oncologist + Cornell=$$$$$
It's not just the money..it's the time. the aggravation of the stress it's putting on me.
time is going by.
I know exactly what she will say. I know my risk is elevated. I will be surprised if she tells me something I don't know. I just hope it's worth waiting to see her and worth the out of pocket.
co-insurance...I guess it's good I have a plan like that.
