Breast Pump

I'm going to give BF a try and see how it goes. I don't think I want to spend all the $$$ that it costs and then find out that I'd not be doing it or I can't do it etc....or for what other reasons it might happen.
I understand that you can rent a breast pump and they give all the accessories parts new. Please post where you rented yours and if you don't mind how much you paid for the rental. If you don't feel comfortable posting this information, please FM me.
I prefer anywhere in Suffolk County.
Thanks so much !! Chat Icon

Does it have to be a pharmacy that carry surgical supplies that have the breast pump for rental?
And thanks for posting this information....

Re: Breast Pump

I rented mine from an LC, not a pharma so that she helped me as well. A phamacist is NOT an LC in 99% of the cases.
If you go on the Medela site it will tell you where to rent from.
Make sure you DO NOT rent a Pump In Style! A pharmastic tried to rent me one of thoseChat Icon Those are ONLY single user pumps..disease can pass thru them and with a rental you have no idea who used it before.
You need a Medela Classic, Symphonthy or Lactina. Those are the only ones that can be steralized properly for rental use.

Bump!! Chat Icon

I had read about the transmittal of bacteria to the baby hence they said not to borrow it or get one from a friend. But someone on here mentioned that the rental ones everything is new (all the accessories given) except for the pump part so hence I'm looking into it.
Great information...please keep it coming....Chat Icon

Re: Breast Pump

I didn't like the idea of renting but I wasn't sure if the investment of a breast pump was worth it b/c I wasn't sure I would actually stick with BF'ing. (BTW, I did and highly recommend it.)

So, I checked with my insurance company and discovered that they would cover the expense of an electric pump such as the Medela Pump in Style. I got mine for only a $50 copay (when normally it is about $350).

I used it very often and it was well worth the 50 bucks that I had to lay out.

I rented mine from Lewin's medical supply on 112 in Coram. I rented a Medela Lactina. Loved it.
