Breast Pump-covered by GHI/Medco?
I was wondering if anyone with GHI (or Medco for prescriptions) has gotten insurance to cover a breast pump in the past few months? I was denied in 2010 with my daughter but I have heard that many companies have started approving them as of Jan. 1st.
(My insurance is thru my husband with the NYC BOE)

Not sure if it would be the same plan, but DH has the nyship through the county with GHI. They told me a breast pump is covered but I have to call one of three companies they work with and order through them. But they said I'm not supposed to requestit until the baby is born. I don't get that.
But, if it is the same plan, it is covered.

Oh, shoot. It's United Healthcare. I forgot its GHI we have for dental. Sorry about that.

yup..they were somehow "grandfathered in" and didnt need to cover them with the new law

I'm not sure about GHI but I have UHC and it covers 100%

UnitedHealthcare covers it 100% but you have to order it through one of their suppliers. I think this is the case with most insurance companies so everyone should find out first before they order.
