Breast Reduction after Weight Loss
Has anyone had a breast reduction after losing weight? I have lost 55lbs and when I do not have a bra on my chest, armpits, shoulders, and back all kill me. My chest has gone down in volume but not in size. I was thinking of going to my dr about possibly getting a reduction. Would I be able to go through insurance? Was it incredibly painful?

Re: Breast Reduction after Weight Loss
I am EXACTLY in this boat right now.
I am having my long awaited breast reduction and LIFT exactly 2 weeks from today on Oct. 7th.
I have lost 50 lbs since February and while my boobs seem smaller in clothing, they are still ridiculously large and way out of proportion for my body...especially now!!
When I first met with the surgeon in Feb (before weight loss), he measured me and said I was a perfect candidate.
When I went back to him, I was already down 25 lbs, and he remeasured me. I was still the smae size, but they even HUNG LOWER!
He said basically that the boobs lose mass, but then you are left with hanging, heavy tissue!
I went to a chiropractor who sent me for MRI's of my spine, because I have severe scoliosis.
MRI's came back a hot mess.
A letter from my surgeon and my chiro were sent to insurance and was stated that my surgery is indeed medically necessary.
Insurance approved my surgery with 100% coverage!
I did have to submit the letter twice though. It was rejected the first time (when the surgeon only sent the letter). Once the chiro got on board and sent the letter, it went through.
As far as pain, I will let you know in 2 weeks and 1 day from now!
Good luck!
