Breastfeeding classes in Suffolk?
Anyone know of any? I'm delivering at St. Charles, and my OBGYN office has lots and lots of classes they offer, but none on breastfeeding that I've seen anything on.

My DR office offers them (southbay in West Islip) i dont know if you have to be a patient to take them. Also, Good Sam hospital offers them.

I went to the breastfeeding class at St Charles last week...they offer it monthly at the hospital with the head lactation consultant...You need to call the family education center at the hospital for info...let me know if you have any questions about it

Oh, really? Thanks so much, this sounds perfect for me. I guess I better do the May class, since I'm due in June!! Was it a one-day class? And how much was it, if you don't mind me asking! Also, who do you contact? I tried looking on St. Charles website, and it doesn't seem to be very informative!

It was from 7-9pm at the hospital and it was only $25 per couple...I think they fill fast, but I registered the week before and they squeezed me in because I am due before the next one! They also tell you all about the pumps that you can buy at St Charles for cheaper than in BRU and BBB...

They also offer it at GoodSam, I believe for 25. as well.

Wow, that's good. So DH went with you? I didn't know if the hubbies went to these, it's good to know!! I edited my post before I saw you posted again...how do you sign up for this? Their website isn't very informative, unless I'm looking in the wrong spots.

I'll look for the papers tonight...I only found out about it because I had my level 2 there and was already registered...I convinced my DH to go and I was glad I did because that night every woman there had their DH there!

Thanks so much. Their website really stinks, I've been scouring it for the last 5 minutes and nothing works, or there's no info about classes anywhere. And that's good to know about DH's too...would would have thought, right? But I guess it really is beneficial for them to be there, to help us remember!!

Aw, thank you so much!! I had forgotten about this thread too!!
I actually called St. Charles last week, the lady sent me the packet, but told me my Dr.'s office offers the exact same class with the same nurse instructor, for FREE, which was so nice of her! So, I signed up at my Dr.'s office the other day, we go next week to the class.
