im just wondering if you are out during the summer and need to breast feed, do you use a nursing cover? i feel like its so hot to have DD enclosed like that, but also am not comfortable just nursing out in public like that (like at central park or pool/beach).
just wondering how others handle it

If you're not comfortable use a light muslin blanket.

Yes, tie two corners of a Aden and Anais blanket together. It is light and oversized.

I had 2 spring babies and was out and about with them all summer. I often would feed them in the car right before doing whatever it was I was doing. But I also used a cover up. They both were fine.

Re: breastfeeding in public

I would try to nurse her in the AC in the car when possible, if not I just used the cover. I would never be able to just whip it out with no privacy.

Re: breastfeeding in public

I use the cover he sweats a bit but he nurses fairly quick so I'm not worried if I'm around people I'm comfortable with I don't cover up

Is LO wearing a sunhat? Although I nurse w/o a cover, I find that his sun hat gives me a nice amount of protection.

thanks ladies! will try the a&a blanket - that should help her get some air while feeding.
would attempt the sunhat but DD likes to move around too much i dont think i would have coverage for long lol

i nurse at home without coverage when i have girlfriends over, but DH prefers me not nurse openly with his male friends around. none of them have kids so he assumes they will find it uncomfortable.

If it was too hot for the cover, I would just use a burp cloth to cover myself. You'd be surprised how people don't even notice.

I said go into AC and use a cover, only because there are too many creepers out there. I did this at Adventure Land ( BF'd DS in the resturant part) and went WAY out of the way of any people. There was no reason why anyone would need to come anywhere near us. Lo and behold, this guy and his girlriend (around 18-20 y/o I'd say) came and intentionally walked past us 3 times.

Again, there was absolutely no reason or this, they (mainly HE I assumed) just wanted to slowly circle around me since I was obviously breastfeeding DS. I was livid but really couldn't do or say anything. DH was unfortunately outside with DD or he would have said something. I hate people. Chat Icon

This what I always did. And if I didn't have it, I would go uncovered, but be as discreet as I could.
