Brewing coffee at home tips...
Okay so I have a new cuisinart coffeemaker and I just not getting the perfect cup of coffee out of it..
I know I am probably using too much or too little coffee.
So;
What brand of coffee do you use at home?
do you buy it ground or grind your own at home?
How much do you use per cup?
Any other tips?
Signed: Mom to one who was on a self imposed coffee strike for nearly 2 years due to pregnancy and BF....ready to get back into the world of coffee and want it to be as near to store bought as possible...
TIA

12 cups water, 6 scoops of coffee. Coffee is always half the water. I go between DD coffee or Chuck full O Nuts original flavor.

That's what I do, too. I usually use DD or Wawa brand (It's a Jersey thing) - sometimes I will put a little sprinkle of cinnamon in with the coffee before I brew.

How big is your scoop though?
I use the one that came with the Gevalia coffee and Iuse 1 scoop to every cup. The scoop is pretty small though.
Cold water is a must Chock Full o Nuts!

Re: Brewing coffee at home tips...
I just use a regular teaspoon from my silverware and put one spoonful per cup.
Use only cold water.
You need good coffee to get one that tastes like store bought. I brew Starbucks or this brand I get at TJ Maxx or Marshalls - I think it's cuppers choice or something like that. IMO, none of the cans from the supermarket are that good.

We use Starbucks or Chock Full O Nuts. I use cold water as well and I have a Cuisinart as well and I use the little scooper that went with it and put 12 cups coffee/12 cups water.
We like strong coffee though.

Re: Brewing coffee at home tips...
Thanks everyone...
I have been using hot water so that might be a problem. I have also been using starbucks coffee and for some reason I think that is stronger than others...I have also been using a tablespoon instead of the scoop that came with it ...wonder I am not dancing on the ceiling

Re: Brewing coffee at home tips...
I use Starbucks or Tullys. Bucks is stronger, but I grind it at home. I have the Barista grinder and I fill it up with beans once, grind it and pop it in. I use between 8-10 cups of cold water and it comes out perfect. We like it strong as well. So as you can see I don't use scoops I just eye it and it works for us.
You will find your perfect formula.

Re: Brewing coffee at home tips...
use cold water
its all about the brand of coffee beans
i go by this - 4 tablespoons for 4 cups of coffee
however, a brand that i aobsolutely love is melitta. they sell it pre ground in the supermarket- in a can, actually.
thier directions are different as for the amount- i think thiers is 2 teaspooons per every "cup" or something lke that
buy that brand and use thier directions! you will love the coffee!!!
also store your coffee in the freezer
i also love their french vanilla- it doesnt taste cheap- it has a rich and elegant flavor

I do one heaping tablespoon for every cup-now i just do it by eye but thats what I did when I first started. Sometimes webuy Starbucks but usually we use 7-11 dark mountain roast ground

Re: Brewing coffee at home tips...
I brew either Starbucks or Medaglia d'Oro at home.
Starbucks brews up WAY too strong if you follow their directions!! Reduce the amount of coffee by half.
But always remember, if you brew the coffee too strong, you can always just add more water and fix it. If you make it too light, there's no fixing it.
And of course, always use cold water.
