Bridal shower help

Hi ladies-

I know this is a wedding related question, but I rarely post on LIW anymore, and would rather ask my friends here.

I'm helping to plan my friend's bridal shower and I need to find some games and activities, such as bridal bingo. Please post ideas that have worked well at either your shower or any shower you have attended, as well as things that didn't work well that we should stay away from.

Also, does anyone have that cleaning products poem thingy? I think that's cute.

Thanks so much. Chat Icon

Re: Bridal shower help

I've done this at a few showers and it is always a hit.

1. You ask the groom a ton of questions (if you invite 75 people, ask 75 questions).
2. Put each question onto a small piece of paper (like a place card) and put one at each place setting
3. As the bride to be opens a gift, the guest whose gift it is, stands up and reads the question.
4. If the bride gets it right, the guest wins a prize

examples of questions are:
* What was DH's first car?
* How old was he when he had his first kiss?
* When does DH say he fell in love with you?
* Who was his favorite teacher as a child?
* What was DH's favorite toy as a child?
* Does DH have any distinguishable birth marks? Where?
* How many times does DH press snooze in the mornings?
* What is DH's favorite meal?
* What is DH's favorite candy bar?
* What does DH love you to cook for him?
* Boxers, Briefs or Bikini's?
* How many paird of shoes does DH own?
* What is DH's mothers maiden name?
* How many cousins does DH have?
* How many cars has DH owned?
*What is DH's favorite vacation spot?
etc, etc, etc ...

** also, make sure someone is in charge of the answer sheet and that the questions and answers are numbered for easy answering for the person in charge.

You would be amazing what you don;t know about a person, or how your mind blanks when you are trying to answer them.
Of course you need the amount of gifts for the amount of guests in case the bride gets them all right, but you can go to the $1 store and get things like writing pads, candles, etc ...

Re: Bridal shower help

I can probably track down my bridal bingo board (it's in Excel) that I made.

One of the cuter things I've seen done at a bridal shower is to ask the future groom questions ahead of time. When guests arrive, you give each guest a card with one of the questions & the answer from the Groom.
Before the bride opens the present - the person stands up & asks the question. Bride has to guess what Groom answered. If she answers right (or wrong - whichever way you want to do it), the guest gets a prize.

Questions are things like "What is the one thing that Debbie never puts back in its place?" "What is Michael's favorite song?" "If Debbie was stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing she could not live without?"

I may still have my list of questions - if the computer department can save my hard drive that crashed. I'll find out in the next week if you want them.

This also worked as a really good drinking game for the bachelorette party.

etd. Great minds think alike Elbee!

Re: Bridal shower help

Here is one Poem

Dear "bride's name", It is only fair that we let (Bride's name) in on a little SECRET. (Groom's name) may be FANTASTIC but wait until (Bride's name) finds out that he is not MR. CLEAN. He'll expect her to be a DYNAMO in the kitchen and he thinks all women should MOP & GLOW. At night he'll wake you up at DAWN to SNUGGLE up close. We all AGREE that (Bride's name) and (Groom's name) will have a very happy LIFE together. Our wish for you is that your home be filled with JOY and you remain as happy as ever in the FUTURE.

Re: Bridal shower help

Another Poem

Dear "Bride", You are entering a new ERA. There will come a THYME in your marriage when you find "groom's name" is not always MR.CLEAN, but don't send out the S.O.S. because he might VANISH. "Groom's name" will always bring you CHEER and you will find him to be your white DOVE. When you are together you will find JOY, so remember your PLEDGE and give him your ALL. To "bride's name" and "groom's name" the Best of Luck & Good Fortune in the years to come. And may "groom's name" always be your HONEY.

Re: Bridal shower help

This one is a little raunchy ...

This poem is to accompany a gift basket for the bride, preferrably including all the items mentioned(this gift & poem has brought many, many laughs and blushing brides!):

For The Bride to be,
Here are a few things
that you might enjoy?
Just some things for you & your boy!
First off- a little negligee
for you to wear-
To be sexy & fun with your man if you dare!
There is also some chocolate syrup
for ultimate flavor-
Followed by whipped cream
for you to savor.
Now you need some maraschino cherries-
To start brand new.
And finally- extra little nuts-
Even though, you now have two!!

Re: Bridal shower help

Candy Bar Poem written from Grrom to Bride (can probably adjust it to fit)

My dearest SUGAR BABY, I PROMISE this bouquet will bring a SNICKER as you read my message. I am not playing TWIX on you. You are my BIT-O-HONEY and I can always count on you in a CRUNCH. I know that I make you NUTRAGEOUS at times, but I will always TREASURE you. You are my HOT TOMALE and at other times a BIG RED and on our honeymoon I know we will SKOR. Knowing that we will have a GOOD & PLENTY life together is like 100 GRAND on PAYDAY! I love you to PIECES and wish for us a musical SYMPHONY on our wedding day!

HUGS & KISSES, NOW& LATER...

(groom to be signs here)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One from Friends
Dear _____________:
We searched the MILKY WAY to find the perfect birthday gift for you. We heard SNICKERS when we phoned the famous jewler, MR. GOODBAR of FIFTH AVENUE, New YORK for your gift because we didn't have $100 GRAND to spend. He was a real LIFESAVER and sent a dazzling WHATCHAMACALLIT but we had BUTTERFINGERs and broke it. We were feeling an ecomomic CRUNCH and PAYDAY was weeks away, so we couldn't afford to replace it. ZERO doesn't buy much. Anyhow, we think you're really special, and wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday with MOUNDS of love and Hugs & KISSES! From the
Re: Bridal shower help
Basket of Candles
A Basket of Candles
For bride name
A basket of candles That come in a pair
In all different colors, For you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright.
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby,
And just when you thought, you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left-for the big 2 5
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive
Congratulations bride and groom (enter names)
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!
Another game I have seen is you set a timer during gift opening and when it goes off, who ever the gift is from that is being opened gets a prize. You can keep resetting it and keep playing.
