Bridal Shower Question...

How much would you spend on a gift for a shower you can't go to? It's for DH's cousin, who he isn't close to at all. He usually forgets her name. I've met her I think twice. We're going to the wedding but I have school the day of the shower. I bought a $40 cookbook but wasn't sure if I should add something else....

That would be enough for me, but whenever I see posts like this, I think I appear to be cheap Chat Icon

Re: Bridal Shower Question...

maybe an apron with Mrs. X and one that says Mr. X on it.

otherwise I think that $40.00 is more than enough to spend on someone you don't really know all that well...unless she went all out for you at your shower.

That's the thing, I always vote on the cheap side! Chat Icon I asked DH, and he said, "That is MORE than enough!" Chat Icon

Re: Bridal Shower Question...

I think that's fine!

Which reminds me that I need to send a shower gift to DH's cousin that he doesn't know since I didn't go to that shower either.

She didn't come to my shower, and her mother (DH's aunt) signed the gift from her from both her daughters and her.

I think that is plenty. I just had my bridal shower and there were plenty of people that went to my shower and only spent that amount, so I think you are fine.

I would spend $50-75 for someone with that type of relationship but I think most people spend less.

then have your MIL do the same...return the favor....sorry...I am a b*tch and I hate going out of my way for people who will never return the favor. If she is old enough to get married...then she was old enough to give you a gift for your shower.
