The second one was a riot, even though I wanted to yell at the screen a few times when Bridget was being paranoid. I liked the movie better than the book.

I was heavily into "chick lit" when Bridget Jones and all the "clones" came out, but I was SO single at the time and those books made me feel better. Bridget was my hero. Chat Icon But since being engaged and married, I'm finding that the genre does not appeal to me so much. A) I don't relate as much and B) How many times can you do the "single girl" story and have it be fresh and original? Marian Keyes is the only one who's held my interest, but she's just a great writer overall.

ETA- Though Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination, also by Helen Fielding, was just awesome, spy-chick-lit!

only "chick lit" i like is the shopaholic series. but yes, they are all the same - its like watching a lifetime movie - woman done wrong by some man; and somehow manages to turn her life around
