Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
Just looking for opinions…would you bring your 4 month old to a baby shower? It starts at 5:00 p.m. & ends at midnight. There’s going to be music, a lot of people, kids, etc…If we do take DD, we would only stay a few hours, but I’m so unsure what to do. Curious to see what you guys think. TIA

that doesn't sound like any baby shower i've ever been to! as long as you're not staying til midnite, don't see why not.

Sounds like a fun shower! Yeah I would bring my DD and stay till she got tired and cranky.

I may have said no if you didn't say other kids would be there. If there will be kids there then I'd definitely take her, unless of course you want to make it a night out with DH. Obviously I wouldn't be staying late if I did take her. I went to a similar baby shower that was more like a cocktail party once, it was so much fun but there were no kids there.

I would probably only take her if she was included on the invitation

Re: Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
Honestly, I think that sounds like more of a party that I would enjoy more if I didn't have to worry about my DD. I would prefer to leave her home so I can enjoy myself.
If it was in the day time for just 3-4 hours I think I would be okay bringing my DD.

I agree, its so exhausting bringing a baby for a big party...well for me anyways. If it was just an afternoon shower then I would bring her.

Sounds like my sisters Dominican baby shower. I would bring my DS but we bring him anywhere (that he is invited). My DS is great in public and would be fine even if we stayed til midnight.

Sounds like a party - If the baby was welcome I'd bring him/her and then let them sleep in the stroller -
My kids slept in the stroller or carseat at MANY family / friends homes or parties long after their 'bedtime'

Re: Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
I read it wrong and thought you were asking about bringing a 4 month old baby IN a shower So I answered "no". Now that I've read the question, my answer would be that it depends on the baby. Even though DD is really good in social settings, I would probably get a sitter and use the event as a night out.

I said yes but thats based on the habits of my 4mo old. he's a very good baby and we take him out all the time so i guess it depends on your little one

Re: Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
Our nephew's baby shower was like that. DD was 3 months. They had a DJ and the music was SOOOO loud. I felt horrible for my baby. We ended up leaving early. I voted "No", but if the music level is tolerable and you leave early...then I think you'd be ok!

I personally would have brought either of my sons at that age. But you have to know your baby. At 4 months, my boys still slept a lot and would sleep anywhere. As long as they were clean, fed, and well rested, they were very content anywhere. When my younger son was 3.5 months, we brought him to my sister's wedding and he was great!

I brought DS to a christening at 3 months which was similar to what you described. He took a few minutes to adjust to the DJ but after that he had a great time!

Re: Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
Think it all depends on the temperment of the baby and the kind of time you're looking to have. DS was a very easy baby and would fall asleep anywhere. Heck at 10mo he slept through all of Avatar in an IMAX theater!

Re: Bringing a 4 month old to a baby shower (poll)
i would and did. the one we went to was during the day so maybe a little different, the only annoying thing was all the stuff we had to bring with us, and feeding him during the party. but people were happy to hold him, and i was able to socialize a bit and take photos. it was nice to get out, and i was proud to show off DS! late night shower? yeah, i'd go and leave when the baby put on the cranky pants.
