Bringing DC to the a medical office - "mini" vent
I had to go for my teeth cleaning this morning and brought DS. I have no choice. We don't have any family on LI and our friends work. And I can afford a babysitter so I can go see the Dr.
So I brought DS with me and the dental hygienist gave me the "look". "Oh we have to leave him in the hallway".
I was... $hit! woman, I am not leaving my kid. It's not my fault you have cubicles the size of 2 x 3 so your medical practice can squeeze as many patient as possible. So anyway, he was just 3 feet away and behaved himself very well. I hated that I could not see him and make sure NOBODY touches him. But we managed.
So she said "oh he was so good". Oh course, he was good. That's why I brought him with me. And even if he was not, I still would have brought him with me.
I don't know what people expect of SAHM. What am I supposed to do with DS? Leave him home?
Vent over!

I agree with you because you know your child best and knew he would behave...also, there would be no way I would allow a child that age to "wait in the hallway!" Ohhhh noooo!!!

And even if he was not, I still would have brought him with me.
However, I disagree with this...a dental office is a place with a lot of sharp instruments and things. He could get hurt...you could get hurt. I think I would want my hygienist's undivided attention in my mouth.
Maybe the hygienist has had to deal with several rambunctious children in her day...I don't think that's fair to her.
When I worked I had to arrange for my appt's when my DH would be around to watch DD.

DS was not loose. He is 16 months old. He was strapped in his stroller. Which is why they gave me the look. Because the stroller was taking too much room.
