Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
TMZ has learned Britney Spears' troubles may have little to do with substance abuse. Sources say doctors at her rehab facility think the underlying reason for her trouble may be post-partum depression.
Sources tell TMZ that Britney's doctors have two operating theories -- either that she suffers from post-partum depression or bipolar disorder. As for substance abuse, as one source says, "No doubt about it - she likes to drink." But doctors believe the drinking is a way Spears has coped with a bigger problem.
We're told Britney, who is sticking it out at the Promises rehab facility in Malibu, is currently reading Brooke Shields' book, "Down Came the Rain," in which Shields reveals her battle with post-partum depression.
We're told doctors believe Spears' problem is complicated by an intense feeling on her part that she has lost control of her life.

Re: Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
I had a feeling that was one of the reasons.
I hope she recovers soon.

its very hard to have 2 back to back. Mine were a year apart to the day and I think back to how hard it was...Fine line between sanity and insanity.

Re: Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
I've thought that all along. And it makes sense of why she kept leaving rehab - she may not have truly had a substance abuse problem so she felt she didn't belong there.
Of course... PPD makes publicity spin on her condition alot easier. They can make the public a whole lot more sympathetic to her if it's PPD as opposed to drug abuse.
I can just see her now doing her teary-eyed Barbara Walters interview.

Oh no, noooooooooo, no crazy eyelash falling off, please!
I agree, this is a logical explanation, but it's also one that makes her whole situation a lot easier to sympathize with...her spin doctors are earning their keep.
Because what doctor gives "updates" to be released to the media about their patient while undergoing treatment?!

Re: Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
honestly- i think some of the characteristics even reflect post partum psychosis more than PPD. her 'PPD' didn't seem like depression but more of a complete break from reality.

Re: Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
I am so happy that she is getting help. Hopefully she pulls it together, gets back into shape, and performs again.
I have said it before, but I will again. I am a major Britney fan and have seen her live. The show was amazing and I'd love to see another.

Re: Britney's Post-Partum Struggle
I'm sure this has something to do with it. Maybe I'm nuts, but I can totally see her recovering and making an amazing comeback. Either way I hope she gets the help she desparately needs.
