Broil for an Electric Oven
Can someone please explain Broil on an electric oven?
My oven has a button that says "broil". I press the button and the oven turns on and the temp says 500. My oven does not beep when it reaches 500 on Broil but will beep if I press bake and put the temp at 500.
I feel like I should understand how this works but I don't...lol.
Also, since I have an electric oven, is my "broil coil" the top coil? Should my oven rack be on the first row from the top? I have 5 rows.

Re: Broil for an Electric Oven
For my electric oven; My broil sets automatically to 400. And the top coil is the "broil" coil. 500 is pretty high; can you manually change it to 400?
I have used it to make steak or brown something quickly. But the key is to never close the door. Leave the door open about 1/4 of the way. There is no preheat Beep on Broil; b/c it get's hot so quick. Just time it and always keep an eye on it; or whatever you are broiling will get over done very quickly.
And yes, when broiling, the rack should be the first one from the top.
