Bronx Zoo - best day?
DH and I can take the kids on a Monday or a Friday (weather permitting of course) - which day is better?

sorry I can't help you between those days, I haven't gone in years but I do know that Wednesdays are free (they want a donation of course but not obligated) that is the day we would go.
I will be interested to know what responses you get between those days.

We did that two years ago, it was a horrible experience because it was so crowded! I don't mind paying an arm and a leg if it means I can actually see the animals inside the exhibits and not have to deal with as many on the walkways

We took the kids on a Monday and it wasn't crowded at all (well, relatively speaking) ! I haven't been on a Friday, though.

Thanks! I know during the summer it will be busy no matter what, but I'm hoping that camps will avoid going on Fridays since it looks like tomorrow will be a really nice day

Honestly, yes. I would avoid it if you can. It is mobbed, especially during the summer, with camp kids and families because it's free.
I bought the total experience tickets online and saved 10% which is nice, especially since kids under 3 are free.

Yes, it is that bad. Weekends tend to be better than Wednesdays.

I thought of that, but we won't be staying the whole day, my kids won't last that long. We'll get there at 10 when it opens and leave around 2 I think, maybe 3.

I wouldn't base it on which day (except Weds, never on free day!!!  ) I would base it on the weather, especially the humidity/heat factor. The days it is super hot/humid the animals all hide out in the shade/caves to keep cool so you end up not seeing as many. You will see more animals if you go when it's not as hot. Have fun! I love the zoo!!

Well I think it depends on the week but I think either day is usually fine- neither one has been bad when we went. I would say Monday's often have a little less traffic (friday's people going out to the hamptons etc) but also if people take a 3 day weekend I think they often choose a Friday.
The only day I avoid like the plague is Wednesdays b.c it is free days and totally crazy.
