Bronx Zoo on a Sunday

I was hoping to take Noah to the Zoo when I am in NY next month, but was thinking about going on a Sunday. Do you think we are insane? Will it be super super busy???

I know the zoo is a um...zoo on the weekends. If you're in town during the week it would probably be better.Chat Icon

Re: Bronx Zoo on a Sunday

I think you may be ok.. Friends of ours jusst went a sunday in June and she said it wasn't that bad. Even if it is crowded it isn't so bad as long as people keep moving!!!

I think you're insane regardless of where you take him.

The zoo will be busy but I don't think it will be too bad. I think of it along the lines of the kids are back at school, summer is over & parents want to veg out on the weekend. They have a few attractions going on http://bronxzoo.com/bz-whatshappening

Re: Bronx Zoo on a Sunday

it really depends. I've gone on the weekends and it has been crazy, but I've also gone in Sept. on the weekends and it was empty and perfect. I'd go during the week to be safe, just not Wednesday because it's free to get in so it'll be more crowded.

We recently went on a Sunday and it was crowded, but it wasn't so bad. Our downfall was picking the hottest day to go. Chat Icon

Re: Bronx Zoo on a Sunday

It's not too bad, but plan to go early. Whatever you do, DO NOT go on Wednesday. That is the free day. And while you save some cash, it is really a mad house Chat Icon

She's right. Zoo closes at 5pm during the week.

If it's too crowded, head around the corner to the Botanical Gardens & then to Arthur Avenue for dinner. Go to Rigoletto's.Chat Icon

Sounds good to me, now we just have to get Noah's agreement, and of course Barbs!

Also, does Rigolettos do pasta that might fit on your finger? Noah will only eat pasta that fits on your fingers.

No, I don't think it will be insane. It's only really busy on the donation day and during the week because of camps. Sunday will probably be very nice.

ETA: maybe it should be a gtg????

Do the Bronx Zoo during the week. You can do the Queens Zoo on a Sunday. It's much smaller and you don't need more than 2 hours. It's a cute little zoo with a petting zoo as well.
