Brookhaven & Fences & Permits

If you go to replace an existing fence that was shown on a new survey from last year, do I need to reapply for another permit? Or can I just put it up where the old fence line was?

I know people can do shady things and beat the system and not report it to the town (and a lot of stuff I DO feel is BS as far as what you need approval for), but I'd like to do everything the right way.

Any insight?

I would just call your town. The permits are minimal in cost anyway.

All Island Tree and Fence, call Richie (owner) at 631-431-6182. Tell him Beth referred you. His price was extremely low compared to other estimates we got, and the quality was amazing--so many of our neighbors have had issues this year w/ the wind/storms, and we've had no issues whatsoever. He also did some tree work for us, again very reasonably priced (removed one huge tree and several other smaller trees).

Thanks so much! I also need a tree removed, I think...it's dead as a doornail. Chat Icon

Re: Brookhaven & Fences & Permits

Brookhaven doesn't require a permit for a fence, but the do have guidelines that you are supposed to follow. They vary based on if its an interior lot or a corner and the placement of your house in relationship to your neighbor...
