brown discharge

I am a little over 5 weeks pregnant and have brown discharge... Is this usually how miscarriages start? I called my doc and he told me it could just be dried blood from normal shifting in my body or... the beginning of a miscarriage. any similiar experience? the brown discharge is only when i wipe, not on undies or anything..... its brown not red!


UPDATE - well the brown discharge has stopped but now i feel like i no longer have any pregnancy symptoms. my bbs no longer hurt. should i take a pregnancy test to see if the pregnancy hormone is still there. I cant believe this. if something were happening wouldnt i know have red blood and cramping? I am def going to dr next week but until then how can i be certain what is happening?

I had a little bit of brown discharge at about 5.5 weeks and everything is fine. It was very light and only when I wiped. Don't worry about a m/c!!!

i had brown discharge earlier today and now when i just wiped i had more of faint blood color.

i went to the dr. for the first time and there were a few things he was concerned about in addition to the spotting.

how many weeks are you? r u crampy? u saw doc today after spotting? .... Let's both stay positive.....thats all we can do

I had brown spotting when I was 5-7 weeks...I am now 36 weeks!

My Dr. said it was old blood and nothing to be concerned about.

If you start cramping or bleeding red blood, call the doctor.

I had it with both my pregnancies. It was never an issue and I had two normal pregnancies.

I had this, and my doc also told me it could be beginning of a miscarriage, I got very upset. but I continued to spot for 4 weeks, and everything is perfect, i'm almost 19 weeks now. some women spot in the beginning for whatever reason

Symptoms come and go throughout the whole pregnancy. If you are that nervous, call your dr for a blood test to make sure your hcg levels are going up. you probably wont see anything on a sono this early.Try not to stress, thats the worst thing you can do right now. Good luck...

OK i just came back from my trip to Key West with the DH and i too have some brown/pinkish bleeding i am freaking out... i think it might be from sex...that is what the internent is saying...but i am very very scared. I have my first prenatal tomorrow i pray that everything is ok

well that was the 1st question my ob/gyn asked me , if we had sex.... so thats comforting 4 u... not for me b/c we didnt.... good luck, let us know what happens tomorrow

when i was first pregnant, SOME girls (not to name names - preguntas and marlo ) would tease me because i would freak out if my boobs didn't hurt one day or if i didn't feel nauseous, it took be a long time until i realized that my pregnancy was going to be a pretty easy one, and my symptoms would come and go OFTEN.

i would not freak out just yet. if for some reason you were going to have a miscarriage, there would be no mistaking it - you would (likely) have severe cramping and red blood, especially at 5 weeks.

try to rest today and keep hydrated, you will probably be fine.

Dont freak out! I had this for a little over a week and everything is normal.

It can be implantation spotting! Don't worry yet. I didn't have many symptoms at 5 weeks either. At 9 weeks I had cramping and spotting. I'm now 37 weeks!

A brown discharge is supposed to be common early in the first few weeks of pregnancy. It's called implantation bleeding and results from the egg burying into the uterus.

It typically happens around the time you're expecting your period and abit afterwards. As long as it's brown and not red, don't worry about it.

It happened to me too and I thought AF had arrived since it coincided with that time of month.

If you're very concerned, check with your gyno.
