Brown spotting *UPDATE*

So as some of you may know, when we went for our u/s last week the tech noticed that I had some blood in my uterus and asked if I had been spotting. I haven't, but this morning I did. I gagged a bit when brushing my teeth and I felt a little squirt come out. I didn't think anything of it bc I went in the shower, got dressed and went out with my dog. Its when I went to the bathroom an hour later, I noticed brown blood on my undies. This was about an hour ago and I have not spotted since. I called my doctor just to make sure. I'm pretty sure its the blood that was in my uterus...

Did any of you experience anything like this during your first trimester? Thanks.

*UPDATE*

So its basically all my fault...I have a blood clot in my uterus due to an implantation bleeding and apparently I'm putting too much strain on my uterus which leads to the blood clot spotting. My doctor wanted me on bedrest and of course I protested! I told him that I have an office job and that I promise to stay put all day long. He said to take it easy and when I get home go straight to bedChat Icon The spotting is supposed to clear up in two weeks if not sooner. Thank you for answering my question and putting me at ease!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Brown spotting

I was about 5 1/2 weeks pregnant when this happen. The doctor basicallysaid it was some blood that was left there 25-30% of women experience this. It went away in like a week. I didn't have any cramping or anything along with it. I am sure you will be fine and that it is the left over blood that is just releasing itself now.

Brown spotting is fine. It is just old blood that is coming out. I wouldn't worry about it, especially since you haven't had anymore.

Re: Brown spotting

Sylvia - it didnt happen to me but I know it happens to alot of ladies on here - and like everyone says brown blood is old blood. I still stick by the old standby - calling my dr. with all questions - good luck and keep us posted!!! Chat Icon

Re: Brown spotting

I spotted every day from week 4-8, it stopped until week 13, but then one day I had red blood for only a day (dr looked and every thing was fine, i just needed to rest) but since that day I am spotting brown again every day. He seems to think it is fine...I have a low lying placenta so maybe that could be it. It makes me nervous but the Dr. doesn't seem worried about it.

Re: Brown spotting

My friend had this, some blood in her uterus as well, it ended up being a vanishinhg twin. As long as you don't have cramping or red you should be fine but maybe they will see you if it continues.

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I actually have spotted but very little since the morning and I've been taking it easy. I'm actually fuming right now bc I called the doctor's office and left a message...its almost 9pm and nobody has called me back. I don't know what the office's on-call policy is but I don't like it...we'll find out tomorrow when I speak to the doctor.

Ooooo, I HATE my doctor's on call policy. Over Thanksgiving (I was roughly 16 weeks or so) I was vomitting up blood, so I call and the dr that calls me back basically just said I was imagining itChat Icon

You girls have no idea how much better I feel...its just so sucky to feel that anxiety.

I am waiting for a call from my doctor who will hopefully have some answers for me. I feel fine, no cramping, just a little sore in my abdomen.

Will keep you posted.

The doctor said that it is the implantation bleeding that causes the blood clotting and too much strain on your uterus (too much physical activity i.e. walking, etc.) can cause it to bleed.

This is what they told me as well when I first started to spot. My Dr told me either to go on disability or stop commuting to NYC. Luckily I was able to get my old job on LI back, so that is what I did. Then I had more bleeding when a cyst ruptured (that was fun - ouch!) and then a bit more b/c my placenta is covering my cervix. All times I got checked & me & baby are A-OK & no bleeding since week 12 or so.Chat Icon

I am glad to hear that it is something easily solved, but def be careful standing too long, squatting, bending & lifting, as I noticed I had worse spotting at these timesChat Icon
