Brunettes that highlight their hair...
Do you have the worst time with keeping the highlights in? My hair gets oxidized so fast.
My guy did major highlights the beginning of the summer, I had them done again in August, and they are a disaster now. I think I'm going to go buy some Miss Clairol or something today to make it all one color and dark again.

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
I have pretty heavy highlights- all over so I'm pretty much a blond now, although that really wasn't my intention originally. The first time I had them done, I had a problem with them oxidizing, but now am OK as my colorist changed the toner.
Maybe you need to try someone else? I go every 2 1/2-3 months... so if they look bad and you did them in August that's a little soon.

I use Kenra sulfate free shampoo and conditioner - you can get it at Ulta...it's a little pricey, but I find that the color (shades of red) stay longer.

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
I have heavy red highlights in my hair. I use L'Oreal for color treated hair at the recommendation of my sylist and Herbal Essences color treated conditioner. My color stays pretty well.
If your hair is oxidizing that quickly, I would change your shampoo and wear a hat more often when you are outside maybe.
I get my highlights done every 3 - 4 months.
ETA: I also don't wash my hair every day, so that might also make a difference. Plus, when I first get my hair done, I usually wait 4 days before I wash it again. I've found that it helps a lot in keeping the color better.

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
I went all one color again because of this.
No matter what I tried.
I like one color now...way less maintenance and my hair is so much healthier.

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
They were too much to maintain for me - time wise and money wise.
Back to brunette for me...

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
I would use a shampoo for color treated hair. That saves my hair from becoming oxidized.

I really didn't believe in this, but I found out the hard way....you have to use a color-treated shampoo and conditioner. I tried not doing that and it totally made my color change.

Re: Brunettes that highlight their hair...
I went back to all natural and finally dont have them
a few pieces would turn BLONDE on their own.I wasnt a fan
I love my all natural color now and like another poster said soooooooo much easier to maintain (and cheaper )

same here, it took a while but i grew out my hair. I did dye it one color first but you could tell what had been highlighted. after 10years of dyeing/highlighting im sticking to au natural, til my hair begins going very grey, which hopefully wont be another 20 years

I'm going back to one color again too. I'm tired of the roots, the different colors, etc. Plus it's so much cheaper.
