BTDT - help us - nursery/office combo: is this delusional?

We live in a 2BR, 2Bath apartment. One room is our bedroom, another is the living room, and the third is a nice sized 2nd bedroom that we currently use as a home-office catch-all space (10'x13').

We'd always figured we'd split the 2nd bedroom in half -- one side would be our desk/office and the other side nursery. But how realistic is this? We don't work at home 40 hours a week, but DH does work at home a considerable amount at nights and on weekends. SO it started sounding really delusional to us - how can baby sleep when he is tapping on the keyboard?

So now we are considering making the 2nd bedroom all baby and putting our "office" in the living room. Is this a better idea? Doing so would also allow us stroller parking in the 2nd bedroom (we don't have a hallway or anything to leave it). The catch is, we'd have to get rid of our dining table and swap it out with a desk. I guess then we could get barstools to eat at our kitchen counter.

Anybody have shared spaces?

we had the same exact situation- we have a 2 bed and the second bedroom is the same size as yours 10X13 ( maybe we live in the same complex Chat Icon ) before the baby we had it as an office/catchall as well but after the baby its all his room. My baby is a light sleeper and there really is no way that he would be able to sleep in there with us on the computer the lights + the noise would = awake baby. So we moved it into the lr and we got a computer armoire that closes so its not obtrusive- its works great.

I would say that it would probably be best if you moved your office equipment into your bedroom or your living room. Once your baby comes you may realize that it is hard to get work done in there when he or she naps and also at night, which sometimes will seem like your only free time!

I also think that an armoire with all of the computer stuff contained will be a good idea -- not only for aesthetic reasons but since that stuff can be hard to babyproof.

I know my daughter would not be able to sleep in a shared space. She needs dark and quiet (except for white noise) to sleep. She knows if someone is in the room and would never settle down. I think you would be better off moving the desk/office stuff to your room.

We actually have the same situation and the room is the same size. The baby stills sleeps in our room with us so it has not been an issue. We use the room to change and dress him and he takes naps in there. But, he can sleep through anythng so far, so I think that it will still be ok when he starts sleeping in the crib. I gues it depends on the baby.
