BTDT and toddler mom...any advice?
I have a wierd situation and I don't know how to deal with it maybe someone had had this experience and can help out.
I drop off Antonio to my mother and grandmother every morning and head to work. Of course he cries and tries to climb back into the car because he is obsessed with me....truly a mama's boy.
Once there within seconds he forgets about me and goes on with his day. Playing, lauging ...fine and dandy.
I think he has made the association that grandmas =no more mommy
Yesterday when my dh took him by my mom's office he willingly climbed into every one's arms (people he as never seen before) and slapped my mom when she tries to take him.
He does this when people come over the house too....all hugs for everyone except grandma and great grandma he runs from them.
I know this hurts my mom because they adore him even though she never complained.
I feel so bad...wil he outgrow this?
Sorry this is really long!!!!!

Re: BTDT and toddler mom...any advice?
For a while John only wanted his Pa and his Papa (my father and DH's father). When ever my mom or MIL went over to him he would squirm or cry. He would even refuse to say the word Grandma.
Honestly though, he just one day outgrew it. He now loves my mother and gets just as excited to see her as he does my dad. MIL he's ok with, but its only because she is tooooooooooo cautious and doesnt let him do much.
Just give him sometime he'll come around

Re: BTDT and toddler mom...any advice?
when I was working really late during the week and a half that daycare was closed, my MIL watched her a bunch of those days as did my sis...and she wanted NO part of them as soon as she saw them walking up to the house because she knew that meant bye-bye mommy...and I mean FREAK out...
I found that it is also how the individual deals with it. My MIL let her freak out and was like "I don't know what to do" or "Poor Bella" and she cried a LOT longer and swatted at her. And as soon as DH got home she gripped his legs...
My sis just grabbed her, gave her hugs and said no crying while she spirited her out of the room and distracted her...she was all hugs and kisses within a minute....and wanted no one else...when DH got home, she cried when my sis left!!!!
I am sure it will pass...we can't help if they just want their mommy sometimes Maybe spend some time with your mom when you aren't going anywhere so he doesn't connect it with you leaving so much.
