Re: BTDT c-section moms..
thanks ladies...i appreciate the responses.. i am falling a part and can't take this anymore..
i am seriously SERIOUSLY freaking out about this c-section.. i am an overly cautious person and in my 31 yrs i have not so much as sprained an ankle.. so the idea of having major surgery has me up at night in tears.. everything that i read about it just sounds so frightening.. and i couple that with the reports and stuff you see on television... i keep thinking what if the epidural doesn't hold me, what if i can feel it. how much pain will i be in afterwards. can they give me general anesthesia so i'm totally put to sleep? what if i am too drugged up to breastfeed right afterwards? who is gonna feed my baby? i d'nt want her to have formula so then what happens, does she just sit there and starve? .
what if what if what if.. i wouldn't be much better having a vaginal birth because i remember that as being extremely painful especially with the episiotomy when i had dd 8yrs ago.. it was so painful in fact that it's been 8yrs.. ON PURPOSE...
the anticipation of possibly going into labor before the scheduled c-section date which means painful contractions AND surgery isn't helping..i know it's all worth it in the end but right now i'm just frightened... and now i find out that most likely only one person can be in there which means maybe my mom can't come in with me..what if i want my mom there more than my husband? i'm such a horrible person right now. this just gets better and better..

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
I had a c-section with y DS and only my DH was allowed in the room. It was a last minute c-section and I was really bummed because I had planned on having my mom in the room when I gave birth. This time I will also have to have a c-section. I am going to ask my doctor if my mom can come in, but most likely she will not be allowed.

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
don't stress out about it so much doing a C/S is so routine for doctors & nurses now you should do just fine. For me, there was nothing scary. I knew that I had to go through all the motions and let the doctors be in control. For me, it was my first time, but they have done it a million times.

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
I know what you are going through. I hadn't even had blood drawn before I got pregnant so I was so nervous about a c-section. I had a scheduled c-section and wouldn't you know it, my water broke before the day of the c-section. I was terrified I was going to start contracting and be in pain. I never did but the nurses said if I started to feel anything they would take care of it immediately. Once they actually started the c-section I never felt any pain but you can feel some pulling and tugging, but they are constantly asking "are you ok, do you feel any pain" so don't even worry about that. You will do fine and just think about what you are getting in the end. FM me if you have any questions! Good luck!

don't freak out.... I have also never had major surgery... and while I intend to give birth vaginally, who knows if I'll end up having a c-section?
Don't worry about feeling anything during the surgery. the anaesthesiologist will be there the WHOLE TIME.... s/he will make sure you feel nothing. if you DO need to go under general, you have a swat team of trained professionals taking care of EVERYTHING.... your baby will be taken care of very well.
Giving birth is an every day occurance, and the VAST majority of the time, everything goes right as planned.
Your job is merely to listen to your body and your Dr's, and keep the 2 in good communication..... everything will be fine.....

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
I've been doing a lot of research recently since it looks like I will be having a c-section. Everything I've read says only 1 person.
I know it's hard but please try not to worry. I think the stats are that 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 births are c-sections...that's a lot of c-sections and although it's major surgery, it is a very common major surgery. I'm a little nervous too, but not so much about the c-section itself but the complications that can arrise with placenta previa, which is why I'd be having the c-section. I've had some pretty scary major surgery in the past, though, so I am more used to surgery.

Try not to make yourself sick over worrying about the c-section. I never thought I would have a c-section. It was the last thing I wanted. When I found out I had to have one with my DS I just decided to roll with it. I wasn't happy, but honestly all I wanted at that point was a happy child. Now I will have to have one with this baby.
I totally understand your anxiety. I am telling you the procedure was so quick I couldn't believe it. Do not worry about the epidural wearing off. There is someone right there with you to increase it if you feel something. I remember when I was on the operating table I said I had an awful headache and "walla" they gave me something and the headache went away. It will be fine. Try not to think about it and focus on something else.
Also, stop reading looking up information about c-sections. It will all be fine I promise.

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
I have had a C-section. And it was an emergency one and nothing I was prepared for in the least. I was freaked. You need to remain calm. I did not and vomitted all over myself. It was terrible. I think with #2 I might ask them to give me something to relax. Which they had to do because I was so freaked.
But since you know it is coming I would do whatever you can to get over the fear now. It will help you when you get there.

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
I had to have an emergency c-section w/Hayley so there was no time for me to freak out.
now that I know what to exect I chose to have another c-section.
Yes you can only have 1 person in there with you. I had a spinal, within a few minutes of getting it I didn't feel a thing. I was so busy talking to DH that we didn't even know they started. Don't be a hero, any pain meds they offer take them!! You need to be mobile to take care of your baby.
There are alot of ladies on here that had c-sections..ask us anything

Re: BTDT c-section moms..
the surgery is a PIECE OF CAKE!! You walk right into the operating room, hop up on the table, they give you the shot & you lay down. You feel nothing & get to chat to DH the whole time!! Which is why I'm opting for a second C-section next time!! Please don't worry!! I have some "medical anxiety" as well and this was a breeze.
Now the recovery on the other hand...
