btdt mom help! -should I change her bedtime?

My routine with Talia has been to bathe her at 9 then feed her a bottle - she would fall asleep for the night between 10:30-11 and wake up between 6-7am.

Lately she is sleeping quite a bit after her second to last feeding - if her feeding is at 6 - she'll sleep from 8ish -9 normally, but the past few days she has been sleeping later (like um...right now...she has been sleeping since 8)

I have broken my cardinal rule and woken her before (which I think I am about to do) but she isnt happy - she eats a very little bit then goes back to sleep.

What to do with this? Should I see if she sleeps through this feeding? (the 9pm) - that would mean she would wake up in the middle of the night i assume...advice?

Re: should I change her bedtime?

OMG im trying to decide what to do with Ryan as well... I usually put him down @ 10...but lately he's been so fussy by 9 and then barely eats @ 10 cuz he ends up falling asleep....

Im scared if I put him down any early...he start wanting to wake so much early...hmmm...????

Could you bump the feeding up a little so that she goes to sleep a little earlier and it doesnt cut into bedtime?

I had another idea but the thought just left me. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
I'll edit if I remember.

ETA: How long has it been going on? Do you think its a growth spurt and maybe it won't last.

Re: should I change her bedtime?

Jen the problem is - I am not sure how to do that - am still feeding her every 3 -4 hours - depending on when she wakes from her naps...so the last bottle always seems to fall around 9. This is the third day in a row that it has been like this, I don't see her eating more - or more often so I don't think it's a growth spurt...

I am the last person that should be giving advice. Schedule, what's that? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If she's getting fussy put her down earlier. Don't wake her up. You can dream-feed her (feed her at 9pm in her sleep).

I used to do this with both Joseph & Madeline - worked like a charm.

I agree with Barb. If I felt he had to eat I would feed while he was sleeping. Maybe they don't need that late feeding anymore and you can make up the ozs during the day.

I agree with Nrthsgrl. I would put Alex to bed and then DH would give him a dream feed at about 11. We stopped doing that at about 12 weeks. The dream feeds helped a lot and he was sleeping from 10pm to 6 by 8 weeks.
