BTDT Mommies with Enterovirus/Coxsackie Experience?
Anyone experience an Enterovirus yet? If so, I have a couple of questions please. My poor DS woke up yesterday morning with a VERY high fever. I took him to the doctor sure it was ear infections and his ears were clear, but he has viral blisters in his throat. The doctor said this is probably an enterovirus.
DC has had little to NO appetite for about a week now. Could it be from the blisters or soar throat even though the fever didn't start until yesterday?
Also, can the Enterovirus cause diarrhea or messy diapers? And a little bit of vomit?
How long will this usually last now that the fever just started yesterday?
Thanks so much for any advice/info you guys can give me. I feel so bad for my poor DS....
I edited post to include that enterovirus is the virus that causes Coxsackie virus ( or something like that).

Bump for afternoon/evening crew. I'm worried about my little man. Anyone have experience with this? It's apparently the virus that causes coxsackie, or something like that.....

Thank you. I just did some research and found that this is the virus that causes Coxsackie virus (something like that). Maybe this will help... I just feel so bad for my little man.

I've never heard of that, but my son had Coxsackie years ago. No vomiting or d...just the blisters in the throat and fever. It lasted a week or so IIRC

I dont know about the Enterovirus, but Cailen had coxsacie about 3 times and each time sucked! I haven't been on that much - sorry I missed this!!!
Cailen's appetite usually came back within a week - I just cared about fluids - gave him as much juice as he wanted, and ice pops

Thank you, that's what I have been doing. Did his fever come back once it went away the first time? His fever finally broke but I have read that the fever can come back again in a couple days...... And he is sooooo cranky when he gets up in the morning. My poor little man.

Re: BTDT Mommies with Enterovirus/Coxsackie Experience?
Coxsakie is miserable!! I am sorry for your little man. My daughter had it twice. It stinks. I would say it was about a week and a half for her before she was back to herself. It's VERY painful when they have the sores. Try the pedia pops to try and get something in him. I would not think that vomitting is out of the relm since I am sure his stomach is empty and raw and putting something in it can aggravate it.
Hope he feels better soon.

Re: BTDT Mommies with Enterovirus/Coxsackie Experience?
jonah has had coxsackie twice (almost a year apart to the day - weird).
it starts out with BAD crankiness and diarrhea, then there's a low-grade fever and no appetite for about a week. both times i took him to the ped about 4 days in (really for the crankiness, since the fever really wasn't so bad) and they found the sores in the back of his throat (and last year he had a blister on his hand too).
it can definitely linger for a while, and makes the poor kids miserable hang in there, just give your baby plenty of fluids and he should be fine

DS had coxsackie last year. He had a fever/blisters on lips & hands/no eating for 5 days. The only thing I could do was make him comfortable and keep him hydrated.

DS has coxsackie right now, but he's getting over it. He had no appetite for about 5 days. His ped said it's okay that he's not eating solids so long as he stays hydrated. The blisters definitely caused him to not want to eat. He even refused chocolate pudding- his favorite! That's when I knew it was bad. He eventually took in cold milk and anything that was cold that could numb his throat. It took about 3-4 days for his fever to go away. He only vomited once during this time and we think it was because the motrin upset his stomach.
I hope your DS gets better soon! Mine is up and around again, but lucky him caught pink eye as soon as he was getting better Poor DS couldn't catch a break!

Thank you. I think he's feeling a little better today, woke up cool, no fever, but MAN OH MAN, he was cranky.... I hope this passes soon! I can't imagine having those blisters in my throat, I wish it were me instead of him......
