BTDT moms - what is more gassy....

IYO - oatmeal or barley
veggies or fruit

Joseph is VERY gassy lately and I wonder what it's from...so I started him on veggies tonight for a change (sweet potatoes)

Just wondering what all your experiences were... thanks!Chat Icon

Hayley has been eating oatmeal, I don't notice a difference in her gassyness. She did have sqaush the last 2 days, I think that might be making her gassyier. I haven't noticed a difference when she eats fruit or sweet potato's.

We haven't tried veggies yet, but I have seen no gas problems yet with the cereal and the fruit. My pediatrician advised to start fruits first since veggies are "gassy" and harder on the tummy she said.

We started on rice cereal last week and Alex's gas has been out of control ever since. I asked the pediatrician about it and she recommended that we switch to Barley...

I havent had any gas issues, except for when he eats apples... I usually give him a dose of mylicon drops after eating them, to prevent it.

I would say veggies are much more gassy than fruits. I would still opt for veggies over fruit since most fruits have natural sugar.

Good luckChat Icon

This was my experience-veggies made Jenna a bit more gassy and for some reason it was the green veggies like green beans and peas.
I switched to all oatmeal and barley instead of rice since the rice made her very constipated-she did great on those two.

thanks! He's been on oatmeal since he started @ 12 weeks - I'm slowly introducing barley so we'll see how he does... Marissa - ever since you told me about the apples I stopped them so hopefully all this will help. He really liked the sweet potatoes last night... cross your fingers it helps!
