BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
My biggest fear right now is being alone with the 2 of them when both of them still require so much attention and watching after....
how does a mom do it?
Oh...and how does baby #2 disturb/not disturb the older child that sleeps through the night????

Hopefully you will have a little helper!! I think Mother Nature had a great idea when she made newborns helpless little sleepers so a new mom of 2+ can adjust her life to suit her needs and the needs of the older kids.
Lucas has yet to disturb the other 2 at night, he is a great sleeper so I think that has something to do with it. And I also think the older 2 have gotten so used to him crying that even if he were to cry at night they would just ignore it.
Don't wory, you can do this

Re: BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
Im far outnumbered now with 3
2 gets manageable, you kinda figure out how to juggle two.. THREE, luckily the baby is a complete angel (SO FAR! )
you just figure it out, really. nothing comes easy to any of us, so just know that all the steps to get there, are all part of the process. toddler will adjust to baby, and you will adjust to new routines.
my toddlers never woke up when baby cried, theyre tired enough to not hear an atomic bomb go off
now its actually the toddlers waking up crying for some silly reason or other, so just when you think you have it all figured out...
so dont worry, we're all in this together!

Re: BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
You will learn to little by little each day. Start right from the beginning getting out of the house.
Get into a routine.
And most of all take deep breaths and have patience. There are going to be days when you wonder how you'll get through - but just remember in a few hours they'll be asleep and you can do something for yourself (like get a mani or read a book or go to bed early). And there will be other days when you think to yourself "I can do this - can't wait to have the next one!"
Oh and most days you will wait by the door for your DH to come home to help you out. That's when you'll remember you're a team and you can't do it alone.

I can tell you that going from 1 to 2 is easy compared t going from 2 to 3. After your 2nd week you'll get into a good routine. And BTW, you have to worry more about #1 waking up #2, not the other way around in my experience.

Oh I just wanted to add... when you get to more than 2 kids you should start counting them when you go places to make sure you have them all

Re: BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
Good questions...my two are 14 months apart and somehow you just get through it! My DD wound up being very adept at independant play although I admit in the beginning we did let her watch alot more Sesame Street than normal (it was cold out, what could I do ?). And I quickly learned how to breastfeed my newborn while reading to a toddler on my lap.
As for sleeping, I had the exact same fear but its true that the older one just sleeps through it. Well, except for the one time when Drew was screaming his head off at 4am, Cameron woke up, wanted to play, and wound up falling off our bed and chipping her tooth. Oy vey! But I promise you get through it AND it gets much easier.

Re: BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
you will get into the swing of it.
I remember being close to giving birth to#2 and waking up at night and crying-hitting my DH laying next to me, and asking him"how the hell am I going to do this?!" I was so scared. But-you just do it! I dont know how, but it comes natural!
I gave more of my attention to my bigger one in the beginning bc I felt that he was still such a baby himself-
and he would feel it more if I was giving all the attention to the baby- really- the baby spends a lot of time in the swing/rocker in the beginning & doesnt feel it as much as the older one will
(obviously Im not saying to ignore the baby, ) ,but you are going to have times when theyre crying at the same time!)
I kept my older one in his room, and the baby in our room-btw after a while #1 gets used to the crying&will eventually sleep thru it-it may take a while

Re: BTDT moms of 2 or more kids.....
I think its natural to feel this way I know I felt twinges of "How will I be able to" with #1, now its just amplified!! I think of this whenever its dinner time and Logan is screaming his head off pulling at my leg while I am trying to cook...and think wow...what will I do with another??? And then I think...everyone I know that has done this has MADE it. You figure out a way for every situation.
