BTDT Moms of girls....
Grace is on an antibiotic for and ear infection since Monday. She has a nasty diaper rash. I called the ped and he said to watch it and make sure it does not turn into a yeast rash. OK, from what he described a yeast rash looks the same as a diaper rash.
I asked if I can give her yogurt and he said she is too young (she is 6 months and we start yogurt at 9 months).
My questions are:
1) What have you done to prevent a yeast rash while your child is on a antibiotic?
2) What symptoms should I be on the lookout for (if it is a yeast rash)?
TIA

Re: BTDT Moms of girls....
Gianna had a yeast/bacterial rash it was awful.
Be on the look out for tiny red bumps, that look almost like pimples and they are red all around them. Sometimes they open and will ooz, look raw and bleed.
poor gracie, hope she feel better soon
ETA: Ever since then, I use tons of Vaseline, and just when you think it may not be enough, I use a little more.
The diaper rash creams tend to absorb easily in the diaper, the Vaseline forms a barrier against the poo/pee that carries the yeast monsters. Just make sure her skin is dry before you put it on.
Gianna hasn’t had a rash since I started using Vaseline. It’s the old fashioned remedy that so far for us has worked the best.

Re: BTDT Moms of girls....
Aw Poor thing. My daughter has had one but she was old enough for yogurt, which helped it alot. For any really bad rash, I use Buttpaste and Triple Paste at the same time. If it makes you feel any better, my pediatrician assured me that she doesnt get the yeast infection itch like adult women do. Its been a long time since Ive had a yeast infection myself but I remember it well and certainly dont wish that on anyone, let alone a small baby. Hope she feels better soon.
