BTDT moms- Registry question
Did you register for things you won't need for a year or so such as certain toys, bottles for diffrent stages, etc?
I donlt know what to put on there without seeming greedy.
Also, for BF'ing moms- did you put pumps and those things on there before you knew if you could do bf'ing? A book I read said to wait and see first.
Thanks for your advice.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I did register for a few toys that were 6-9 mths range. I also registered for the convertible car seats that I didnt need right away either...I think most people do.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I didn't BF so I can't help you with that.
As for the other question, I am probably going to be the odd man out, but I did not register for things I would need past the first few months. Not a high chair, not a exersaucer, jumperoon, ANY of that stuff. I feel like the registry/shower is for the baby's arrival, not to get the kid stuff for the whole first year.

See- thats the way I feel but I looked at my friend's registry and see TONS of stuff on there and feel like maybe I'm not putting enough stuff on there.

I think it depends on your family/friends honestly.
I had a smaller shower with 27 people, between that and DH's family, we really did get all of the essentials that we needed.
My BFF had a HUGE shower with her HUGE family and her registry was probably about 3x as long as mine and she got almost everything on her registry.
If you feel like people will be buying you random things b/c there isn't enough on the registry, add more, but know your audience
ETA: One more thing, my SIL registered for everything under the sun and got A LOT of stuff they didn't need at the beginning. Her MIL had to go buy her an infant seat the day my niece was born, so you run that risk too, KWIM?

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I agree - it depends on what kind of shower you are having. I had 50 people at mine...I put everything Id need for the first year or 2...exsersaucer...changing table...umbrella stroller...full sized stroller...high chair....pack and play...bottles....a few toys....infant carrier....2 convertible car seats (and I actually wound up getting 3!!) - I got all of this large stuff and all of the smaller stuff too...there was barely anything left on my reg. so...if you have a large family and are having a big shower...IMO - it just cant hurt to add these things.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I didn't register for older toys or much more stuff than I'd need for lets say a 3mo old (i registered for the playmat, bumbo, stuff like that, not 3mo+ toys)
I did register for my medela pump ... If it is unopened you can return it but I knew when I left the hospital I'd be able to BF & pump using the hospital pump (I also spent an extra night in the hospital and had time to figure out the pumping thing). Also, I figured if it didn't work out, at least I didn't pay for it myself!

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
i registered for anything i thought i would want - pump included - because i knew i would want it there for the 10% completion coupon you get after the baby's due date.
i didn't register for many things for when he would get older except for the jumperoo and exersaucer because i knew people would want to get him things for the holidays.
but you'd be surprised at how much stuff people will give you - friend and family can be very generous, especially with cute baby stuff!!

i agree! i didn't put on a ton of toys for later on and was actually asked to by several people. so i ended up with the exersaucer, jumperoo, blocks, play mat, and about 5-6 smaller toys. some people may just want to get you something fun.
i didn't put on andy bfing stuff b/c i felt that was too "personal" imho.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
Defintiely register for things you may not need immediately. I didn't and definitely regret it. I never thought about toys. Was more concerned with the newborn stuff.
I didn't register for a pump and don't regret it although I am still EBFing. It's a huge investment for someone and you really won't know if you will keep with it until you have DC.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
Like the people above said -it depends on the size of the shower! Definitely put enough on your list so people have plenty to choose from!! I had a huge shower so I put tons on my list and then a close friend said to me take all the little stuff off(toys, stuffed animals) because you want the important stuff bought first!! I ended up listing 105 items and got 101 of them!!! I loved everything I got & BRU was the one store I went to when ds was small so if I needed to exchange something it was easy.
Definitely put the pump on the list-you will know right away if you will be using it!
I only wish I would have returned all the clothing that was 6-9 months-it ended up being the wrong season!!!

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I registered for relatively few toys, mostly newborn-3mo stuff. I registered for bigger things, like the play mat, swing, etc.
I didn't put the pump or accessories on the registry either. We have flex spending, so I wanted the receipt for the pump to get reimbursed.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
Thank you all for your help!
I will probbaly be having 2 showers ( on on LI and one upstate) so I guess I do need more options on there so it can't hurt to put things we need and want on it.
Any suggestions for smaller things I may not be aware that I need?

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
No the only thing I registered for that I wouldn't need right away was her high chair and Jumperoo - otherwise I felt strange putting any items that wouldn't be used within the first 3 to 4 months on there.
I did BF and I did buy a pump but did not put it on my registry b/c if something happened and BFing didn't work out I didn't want the pump - I did put aside some gift cards though to pay for the pump if I decided I would need it (which I did). There is so much stuff you need that I felt if I didn't use them for the pump there was always the convertible car seat etc that I would be needing in the future.

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I would say I went up to about 6-9 months but not past that. As for BFing, I put some pumping accessories but not the pump itself.

I registered for some things we wouldn't need right away. Just make sure you have a place to store them

Re: BTDT moms- Registry question
I put the pump on, as well as other bf items...just make sure you have the receipt and that you don't open the pump...you should be able to return them if they are in their original packages and unopened (especially the pump).
I definitely registered for EVERYTHING I could think of...even older stuff (exersaucer, safety gates, spoons, bowls, cups, toys, etc.)...I don't think that's being greedy - the baby will need it.

Same here. I had about 80 people at my shower and received almost everything off my registry.
