BTDT moms, Walking question
Anthony took his first steps a few weeks ago. Since, he has only walked a handful of times, a few steps at a time. He will do it randomly, like just crawling around, decide to stand up, walk a few steps and then drop down again. I was going to buy him his 1st pair of "good" shoes on his birthday (2 more weeks), but my mom says to hold off, that he probably won't be fully walking until the winter.
How long did your DC go from "steps" to all out walking? TIA!

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
Kaydyn started taking steps around Thanksgiving and didn't fully walk until her 1st birthday in Jan.
She had no desire to walk...she was perfectly happy cruising and crawling (she had been cruising since 6 1/2 months)

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
took steps a week before his 1st birthday. Being stable enough to walk on his own without falling down constantly = 13 1/2 months.
So a month and a half after his first steps.

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
DS took steps on his own (not cruising) about 2-3 weeks before he was walking all over the place.

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
It was probably a month and half to 2 months from the time he took a few steps till he was full on walking.
I think you can wait till his first b-day.

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
We had a 3 month gap between first steps to full out walking. Like PP said, hold off on "good" shoes until he's walking more consistently. Until DS was able to walk consistently, I dressed him in Robeez shoes designed for "pre-walkers". They had really soft soles.

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
I would hold off...it took DS about 1 month to go from steps to walking full time. And honestly it took another month for him to comfortably walk in real shoes. Its still best for them to be in soft soles or socks or barefoot of course

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
My DD took her first steps at 10 months & was toddling all over the house within a couple of weeks. Once she started doing that we bought her shoes, but really only used them when she walked outside.

Re: BTDT moms, Walking question
9.5 months..Frankie took his first steps. 10 months...frankie will walk across the room. He prefers crawling bc he goes faster that way.
