BTDT Moms: What are some necessities that soothe your baby when they cry?

I know all babies obviously cry but I want to be as well armed for crying combat as possible.

Please add to my list. TIA!

Some things I will have are:

1. Miracle and swaddle blanket
2. Swing
3. Bouncer
4. Rocker
5. Pacifier

What else gets your baby to stop crying?

What helped my dd was the bounce seat, swing and paci.. also the biggest help was not something you can buy from store.. but The 80s music channel on cable!! She loved it and this always calmed her down and she would fall asleep.

both of my boys are soothed by the sound of water running in the sink

My daughter was colic for 6 months. Every baby is different, but what soothed her was to put her in the sling and dance in the kitchen, put her in the baby bjorn and take a walk outside, or if it was late at night, walk on the treadmill on the lowest setting.

The swing worked wonders for us during really difficult times.

How funny! This is exactly what I used to soothe DD. I must have sung every 80's song in the book to her. I think her favorite was "Every Rose has it's thorn" She also liked anything by Bon Jovi

Personally, I don't like to use swaddling blankets. I like to use regular receiving blankets and swaddle her myself. It took a few tries to get it right, but it works so much better than the miracle blanket or swaddle mes because my baby curls up her legs.

I also like NUK pacifiers.

The Happiest Baby on the Block is a great DVD investment.

Ryleigh doesn't really cry much, unless she's hungry. But we have found the Graco Sweetpeace Soothing Center to be well worth the money. She absolutely LOVES the music, and the fact that we can plug her carseat right into it after a car ride is the most ingenious thing ever!
