BTDT Moms who had scheduled C-sections

I am having an elective c-section. I was curious about your recovery. I would like to be back at work within two or three weeks for a couple of days a week for a few hours a day. I am curious whether you could have done it? Essentially all I do at work is talk and listen while sitting so it is not physically demanding but I do have to be cognitively with it. Do you think this is reasonable or am I fooling myself?

I am only asking moms who had scheduled c-sections as the recovery is supposedly different than those who have c-sections after labor.

For that type of job, reasonable. I also had a scheduled csection. It was a peice of cake, really. I just had some minor discomfort afterwards for a few weeks but nothing that kept me down.

ETA -My situation all went well. So assuming all goes as planned, yes, reasonable.

I had complications during my c-section and they were afraid I could hemorrage during my recovery. I still went back to work after 2-3 weeks for a couple of hours a couple of days a week. I had no problems. Honestly, I got more rest at work then I did at home chasing my 20 month old.

I had a great recovery. My dr did not cut through any of my muscles or anything, the only thing that kind of hurt was the incision and it was only really bad while I was in the hospital for 3 days. After that it was fine.

My recovery from both c-sections was pretty smooth. The only noticable difference was the fact I could feel the incision more the second time. As for going back to work that soon, you may want to talk to your doctor because usually you cannot go back until they give you medical clearance. At least that is what I was told.

I was pretty much back to myself by 3 weeks after.
You can't drive though until 6 weeks, so I don't know if that might be an issue for you.

For DC#2 I had a scheduled c-section. By 1 week I felt great and at 2 weeks pp I felt myself again. I work from home as an attorney but I was "back" to work at 3 weeks pp.

Re: BTDT Moms who had scheduled C-sections

i had an elective C section for my 1st and 2nd.

recovery for me at least was very easy and i would have been able to go back to work with both.

i was in the hospital for 3 days with each child and was up and walking within 2 hours after recovery.

I had scheduled c-sections for both DC's (due to their sizes)...My recovery was a piece of cake, by the time I went home I was going up and down stairs multiple times a day ( I have a colonial) They did tell me not to, but I felt up to it....At 2 weeks PP I went to birthday parties after both DC's and even went to the mall ...

Was it 6 weeks (with the driving ) ??

For some reason I thought it was 2 and 6 weeks for "the deed" Chat Icon

Re: BTDT Moms who had scheduled C-sections

I had a great c/s and recovery, but could never have gone back that soon due to my emotions being all over the place as well as being totally exhausted. So it really just depends. Also, the docs recommend not driving for 6 weeks.
