Not a BTDT, but we recently took a sibling preparation class with DS at the hospital. It included a tour of the maternity ward, a video about being a big brother or sister, making a birthday card for the baby, diapering a stuffed animal, talking about the baby, etc. DS is a little older, but I think it helped a lot. I think he's going to be excited about going to the hospital to visit his new sibling. We talk about the baby being born in the hospital and how he'll come visit. I will likely have a c-section and plan to have him visit at least a few times, possibly each day. Good luck!
Out of curiosity where was this? I love this idea!

I think it depends entirely on the child. For me, it was a non-issue because my DD was born during the whole Swine Flu scare and the hospital did not allow any siblings at all to visit so my 2yr old was not allowed to come. At the time I was VERY sad and would have had him come if not for the rule. Since then, I've reconsidered the position hearing stories from friend's and family. Some kids do ok - others freak out. My friend's 2 yr old was disturbed seeing her mother in that setting and screamed all the way down the hallway and all the way home when her dad took her home and she was NOT that child. I've heard stories good and bad. You know your DC you have to think about how it will affect them especially at 2 b/c they can't 100% process the situation. HTH!

Our plan was to bring DS to the hospital (18 months) to meet his brother. DS #2 ended up in NICU though, so that never happened. We brought him home from the NICU, so he was never up in my room. DS did come to visit me, which was a bit hard for him I think because I couldn't lift him (just had a c-section) and I had a IV and stuff.
