BTDT Moms...DD is getting her shots today, what should I expect?

DD is going for her first round of shots today. What should I expect at the doctor's office?

What should I expect after she has the shots? Will she get a reaction to them? TIA Chat Icon

DD has always been a trooper with her shots, just kind of wincing but not crying. She doesn't really get any reactions to them, either. I feel very lucky for that.

My nephew, though, does get a fever. Now my sis knows what to watch for, and within an hour or so afterwards, gives him a fever reducer. He also sleeps a lot afterwards.

Ask your ped what you may expect, and be strong Chat Icon You'll hold her during the shot.

If she cries and screams I will feel so horrible. I hate getting shots myself and I can't imagine how scary it is for an infant.

I am so glad you posted this because DS goes next Monday for his shots and he is getting 4! He didn't get any at his one month visit. I feel so bad for him. Do you think 4 shots is to many at one time?

Reactions vary but what shots they're giving. Fever & crankiness is common. Oh, and major guilt & worry is a parental side effect.

DD has so far had 2 of the 4-in-1 shots, and one of the 5-in-1 (if i recall correctly). I figure its better than her getting 4 or 5 separate needles at once.

good luck! Chat Icon

I agree. Usually you're allowed to give Tylenol afterwards for the fever part should it happen. Lots of luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My ped and I dont believe getting more than 2 at a time which is fine by me! If you dont feel comfortable let them know you only want to do 2 or dont do any at all.
