BTDT moms...Ear infection? HELP!!! SOS!!!!

I think Grace has an ear infection and we have a doctors appointment at 1:45PM today. What can I do in the meantime to help her feel better. Tylenol is not working. She is 5.5 months old, too young for motrin. She is screaming and grabbing her left ear. I have been holding her since 5AMChat Icon . She NEVER needs to be held all day like this. She slept of an hour this AM, but thats it. She keeps rubbing her eyes. She is definately tired but will not sleep. My poor baby. Any advice is appricated. TIA Chat Icon

BUMP! She has been screaming for 45 straight minutes and I am holding her while I type this. I have no idea what to do. She won't eat, does not have a fever, and keep grabbing her ear. Sorry to be a PITA, but I am at my wits end here.

ETA: I gave her tylenol 1.5 hours ago.

Is she teething, this could be it too? Does she have a fever??? I found that Bella actually never grabs her ear when she has had an ear infection (and she has had a few)

She grabs her ears more when she is teething...

Hope she feels better soon!

Thanks! She is teething and has been for weeks now. She never did the ear grabbing thing before, so I think this may be an infection.

I'm sorry... Nicholas had an ear infection 2 weeks ago and the Doctor told us to give him Tylenol or Motrin, but you already tried Tylenol. I hope she gets better soon. I know how hard it is to listen to them crying that way.

Re: BTDT moms...Ear infection? HELP!!! SOS!!!!

I just went through this myself w/Peyton. The poor thing was crying so bad the other night. I took her on Friday, and she had an ear infection. Unfortunately, it takes almost 48 hours for the medication to really kick in - at least in my experience.

Hope she feels better

When Joseph woke up in the middle of the night with an ear infection (Advantage/Disadvantage of having a kid who can speak - the cries of "Mommy - my ear hurts. Make it stop! Make it stop!"), I called the pediatrician's emergency line. I was told to put a warm wash cloth in back the ear lobe & rub in a downward direction. Also give Motrin. It worked well enough to get through the night.

Good luck!Chat Icon

Thanks Ladies!
Well the doctor confirmed it, Grace has an ear infection. He gave her an antibiotic and she took the first dose when we came home. She slept for 1.5 hours and woke up happy!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
