BTDT Moms..Time Off???

How long did you take off before the baby was born? (i.e 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 2 days etc.)

If you had to do it differently would you have taken less or more time off?

Re: BTDT Moms..Time Off???

I took 10wks. I wanted to take 12 but had no time left and wasn't getting paid past the 6wk mark so I went back relunctly after 10wks. Next time I hope to have enough time to take the full 12.

I was going to go in the 8th but i thought mywater had broken. as it turns out i stayed home a week without the baby but i was aweek late. so all together i was home 12 weeks but 11 with the baby. if i could do it agin i would work up until the day i had her!

I stopped working one week before my due date at the request of my boss who was nervous I'd go into labor on the job. hehe. That was more than enough time to sit around feeling nervous!

I had a month off before the baby came (he was 2 weeks late anyway) it was enough, but I wish I had slept more!!!

eta my maternity leave was 13 months total. I would have taken more time off if I could have. Alas, I milked it to the very end if I wanted to keep my job.

3 months both times. If I could do it differently I'd opt for the Canadian policy of 1 year.

I took off a month before and he was 5 days late. I commuted into the city with long hours and I just couldn't do it anymore. My doctor said I could have had even longer because she was worried about the long hours I was working. If I didn't have to work late or commute I would have been happy taking off a week or 2 before.

I left 1 month prior to my due date. With this pregnancy I am working until the last possible day. My last job was horrible and stressful and I couldnt bare to work any longer than I did.

Re: BTDT Moms..Time Off???

I worked on Wed.-then had a dr apt. Wed. night- had an amnio done- couldnt work Thursday (had to stay off my feet for 24hrs) had DS on Friday!!!

This of course was unplanned- because I wasnt due for another 2.5 weeks- I had planned to go out 1 week before my due date...

In the future as long as I feel good- Ill work up until the end- I sit behind a desk- so its not straining in anyway!!

Re: BTDT Moms..Time Off???

I literally worked until my due date both times. But, I only lived less than 30 minutes from the office and was able to come and go at will and finish the workday from home.

For me I found that I was just better off working, it gave me less time to ruminate.

Re: BTDT Moms..Time Off???

None. I knew myself - I knew I would go absolutely stir crazy if I stayed at home even one day, so I worked up until the last minute. I worked on a Friday and the following morning I went into labor.

Re: BTDT Moms..Time Off???

None,...I got a call from my doc to go into the hospital to be induced that evening. So I had Zero time off before my DD was born. I worked the day I went into labor. My due date was a monday so I had planned on working until that friday and then to work from home until my waters broke!! I must have been nuts!
