bugs in Stop &Shop pasta!
We bought few boxes of Stop&shop brand pasta last week (peapod delivery) .
few days ago I opened a box , poured in a pot and noticed that there were some of bugs floating around 4-5 of them , looked like ants , but not exactly, more like tiny little roaches. I threw it in the garbage and since I had too much going on that day I decided to call them later, but I never got around to it. So just now DH opened another box and same thing happened  but this had even more bugs floating in it, 6-7 in the water and there are more in the box, ALIVE!!! I just can't believe this , so disgusted right now. I am going to call S&S tomorrow and see what they say and do about this (if anything)
I just wanted to post and let everyone know just in case!

nope, just pasta, they are inside sealed boxes

They are probably weevils / mealy bugs. (Google weevils or pantry moths for more information.)
I would put all of those pasta boxes in sealed plastic bags and toss them (unless you are saving it for Stop & Shop -- but I would put them in sealed bags and store them outisde if that's the case). Once weevils get into your pantry, they are hard to get rid of. You may need an exterminator if you have an infestation, but considering the boxes were sealed and you tossed them right away when you noticed the bugs, you are probably okay.
Gross, but hopefully just an inconvenience and not an infestation.

That happened to me with a box of Pastina. I finally had to throw away all the pasta and grains in that cabinet, keep it empty, and clean it of bugs to get rid of them.
It sounds gross, but their eggs are already in things like pasta and flour. I keep bay leaves in my flour now, to make sure that they're dead.

Definitly weavils. They will spread into all your wheat products in the pantry if you do not take care of it.

That's true. We had them once (with flour) and it was so gross!!! Now, whenever we buy any flour-type product, we freeze it for at least 24 hours which kills the eggs. I haven't had that problem with pasta though.

I had to throw everything away, all the pasta and don't see anything in my cabinets yet.... haven't called them yet. I love pasta but I don't think I can eat it any time soon

Just called S&S consumer affairs and spoke to someone, they will refund the money and "inform" peapod, but she did say that this seems to be an ongoing issue and peapod needs to really take care of it. I even told them about expired and stinky ground beef they sent us few months ago .... anyway, I hope they do something ....

thats just gross. I hate peapod and don't know why i use it... well i use it sometimes cus otherwise I wouldn't have groceries. Their meat is never fresh and the veggies are always a couple days old looking to me. Anyway, you really should call them and get money back - not a credit - money back. I have a box of their brand of pasta from them that i got delievered last week... can't wait to open that up!
