Building Blocks and TOPS

We are considering sending DD to a developmental preschool next year instead of her current preschool. We feel that 1 hour a day with a SEIT is not enough to help her with her ADHD and impulsiveness. She has a lot of anxiety over the structure of school. I am in Hauppauge so I am considering both of these schools. DD will receive speech, PT and most likely OT. Pros/Cons of both?

Re: Building Blocks and TOPS

DS went to building blocks. I felt communication wasn't great (he took the bus so I didn't see his teachers ever). I really have no idea how he improved or not. I guess that was partially our fault, but we had a rough year. They never called or gave updates besides iep updates.

I think the program is good, but I felt out of the loop. Also he was in an integrated upk class (which is good to have consistent typical kids), but there were parents who didn't understand the class dynamic.

It was the right placement for DS. I just wish they had called a few times.

DS is starting TOPS in September. I have heard very good things, so I'm hoping for the best.

DS has been at Building Blocks since he's 27 months old and I love it there.
He really has come a long way and we are very happy.

One of the posters above mentioned communication. I do agree, once he hit pre-k, you don't really see the teachers much.
I will say (and admit), I'm that PIA parent that writes back and forth in the communication book and I've always had replies and phone calls back if necessary.

I honestly don't have any complaints about it.

I haven't heard of TOPS, so, I'm no help there.

Any questions, feel free to FM. Chat Icon
