BUMP OF A REPOST: FYI how to light Chanukah candles
I decided to repost this for anyone lighting candles for chanukah
Chanukah started tonight at sundown. Here are the instructions for lighting candles if anyone needs them:
Candles are placed in the menorah from right to left, with the number of candles corresponding to which night of Chanukah it is. There is also one additional candle, which is usually elevated, called the “shamash,” or service candle. The shamash is lit first, and then used to light the other candles, from left to right.
If your menorah is in a window, it is my belief that it is on display for people outside and should be lit opposite of the directions above. If your menorah is lit for display inside then the rules above apply and are lit as indicated below:
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5
Day 6
Day 7
Day 8
I have one that I light inside and one for the window that has bulbs. That one looks backwards from the inside.
And just in case you are wondering, I will more than likely be annoying and post pictures of my menorahs EVERY DAY of Chanukah.

ok so I am confussed. I have my menorah in a window for those who are outside to see. Which way do I light the bulbs?

Im the annoying person who fixes them in store windows. I am sorry, but its a weird pet peeve of mine - much in the way that people call some Jews "reformed" when the proper term is "Reform". I keep asking "What are we reformed from or of?" I know I am not looking to fix the errors of my ways.

You are not alone but why I do it is even more surprising.
Last year I was the one to fix them on the faculty room Menorrah. The first day they had all of the bulbs lit So I unscrewed them a bit and lit the last one of the right and the middle one.
Someone screwed them all in again, so I left a note with instructions as to the proper way they are to be lit and why, signed the note and added Catholic School Grad, Class of 1988

Wouldnt bother me. Every year I call my father because I always forget which way to do it. My menorah has been sitting in my window for 2 weeks already. I put it up when I put my christmas decorations up.
My house is very festive.

I am not reform, but that always drives me nuts as well. You're not reformed convicts, for goodness sake!
