bunnies are eating up our garden - what can we do?
We don't want to hurt the bunnies but they are eating everything in our garden. Is there anything we can use to keep them away?

I heard that if water with cayenne pepper mixed in it wont hurt the plants, but its too spicy for the animals and they wont want to eat them and they will just move on from your garden.

Re: bunnies are eating up our garden - what can we do?
I started with something called Plantskydd which was dried blood mixed with liquids. It worked, but the smell was too much, and there's something perverse about spraying red blood all over the place.
Last year, I bought RabbitOut based on a recommendation from an area nursery (Borellas in St. James) and they were absolutely right - no more rabbit problems.
There's one plant they LOVE to eat of mine - Black Eyed Susans. They leave a lot of my other stuff alone, but I do have to spray the Susans once every 2 to 3 months. And it smells good - like lemon menthol.
My parents just bought DeerOut based on my experience and so far, so good.

Just sprinkle or spray the perimeter, not on the plants

Re: bunnies are eating up our garden - what can we do?
Bring them to me!!! We had bunnies for several years but the past few years they have disappeared from the neighborhood. We think it's due to an increase of racoons and ferral cats in the area. We miss the bunnies and want them back!

We have TONS of bunnies and every other kind of animal
We just planted a new garden and sprinkled black pepper all around it (I read that cayenne hurts their membranes)
so far so good!!!

Re: bunnies are eating up our garden - what can we do?
we have so many, I'm contemplating getting a cat. My dog seems to be oblivious to them.
once I plant my veggie garden i sprinkle the top with dried blood. (although it drives my dog crazy - I guess he likes the smell?)
I also sprinkle around the perimeter fox urine a few times a week getting less frequent as the summer goes on.
I got both at prianti in dix hills
