Burton and Doyles.. not happy

I bought a groupon for Burton and Doyles. it was $60 for $120 worth of food. I absolutely expected the bill to be more than 120, but I found it a bit much for the little food we ordered and our steak was just ehh... for that money I want more than an average tasting steak.

We ordered..
2 Appitizers
1- Fresh Mozz and Tomatoes
1 Shrimp cake
( it was the nights special)
1 Ribeye for two
1 side of Broccoli rabe
1 side of Chips
No dessert and my dh had a coffee..

What woudl you expect to pay?

Eta- we had one glass of wine each.

In a steakhouse?

Lets see: About $8 each for sides; hard to say with the ribeye because I do not know how big it was but if you say it was for two it could easily be $60+; crab cakes around $15; mozzerella $10...hmmm..$140 with tax and tip?

One of my favorites, but it is pricy. I would say closer to 160. Any drinks? If so, I would up total from 160, like I said, pricy, pricy...

Ok...I was clearly off on the steak. How big was the ribeye? Personally, that is more than I would pay for that amount of food (but I would have ordered differently). With a price like that I usually will have ordered seafood too (raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, etc.). Was it an aged steak? They are much more pricy.

I can't tell if you mean WITH tax and tip or WITHOUT.

I would've expected a breakdown to be like this in an upscale steakhouse

Ribeye for two: $95-100
Each appetizer : $18 each
Each side dish: $10-12 each
Each Glass of wine: $10 each
2 Coffees: $14

So with that I would expect it to be, before tax & tip: $185-195

It may not seem worth it but I think that would be roughly a normal check at about $200 depending on what their rates were. Anything over say, $220 without tax & tip would be a little crazy.

But if it was $200 WITH tax & tip then I think that's normal.

Honeslty- the majority of these steakhouses are overpriced.
I am rarely thrilled wiht any of them.
To me, it's all the same shyt - but because it has a HUGE price tag it's supposed to be better.

I try to stay away from them unless it's for work and I have no choice.
I just get aggrevated.

This! DH & I have gone to plenty of Steakhouses and it is always in that range.

Re: Burton and Doyles.. not happy

DH and I were just there this past weekend and we loved it... We also had the living social coupon.

If I remember correctly, I believe the ribeye for 2 was $47 per person, so that alone is almost $100...
