Bus Vent
Maybe this is the norm (we've never used a bus before) but does anyone else have no idea when or if bus service will be provided at this point? I called the bus company yesterday since we had heard nothing yet. and they could not tell me anything. The woman I spoke with said our application arrived late, so she couldn't guarantee a seat! Which is a problem, I could potentially do morning drop-off, but I cannot leave work every day to pick him up.
I spoke to the school DS will attend, and they said the application was 3 days late, but most are, and the company should be able to accomodate DS.
The final thing is that I would really like to start prepping DS for the bus--let him know when it will pick him up, etc. Just goes better if he knows what to expect.
Just curious~

Re: Bus Vent
I just spoke to my bus driver tonight. I thought I put my paper work in late. I can understand how you are feeling.

Re: Bus Vent
We haven't heard anything yet and our application was not late. It's the norm. The driver shows up a few days before school starts and drops a note in your mailbox about route #, pickup time and driver's name.
Our driver last year told us that for summer school, they waited until the last day of the school year to tell the drivers what route they would be on for summer. They are probably figuring it all out this week. If you don't hear tomorrow, call the school again on Friday and ask them to put some pressure on the bus company.

Re: Bus Vent
Thanks! I got worried when the bus company told me he was not on schedule, and they may not be able to accomodate him anytime soon--mornings I can drop him off, but afternoons I cannot pick him up (or not every day anyway). The school said our application was only a few days late, and it happens often, usually it's impossible to get them all in on time, and the bus companies work it out.
The storm may have thrown planning off too.

Re: Bus Vent
I had 2 drivers at my door yesterday! The one that drives DS to school and then 10 mins. later, the one that will be driving him home.
Check your mailbox! Hopefully something will be there!

Our bus driver just showed up today. Last year he showed up the day before school was due.

Re: Bus Vent
Update- Bus drivers showed up yesterday - morning and afternoon. I think if you still haven't heard, call the school and/or bus company today. Monday is the holiday and Tuesday may not give you enough time to straighten it out.

Re: Bus Vent
Many thanks for all the posts and information. I have no idea how this works, and it was good to know we weren't the only ones who didn't know or just found out.
When I came home from work last night, we had a postcard from our driver, so we now have all the info and he's definitely on a bus line.
So we're set!

Re: Bus Vent
The driver who will be picking DS up left a note in our mailbox Tuesday, and the driver who is bringing him home rang the doorbell today!

Re: Bus Vent
We got the note yesterday while I was at work but were surprised how early our child is to get picked up vs. How far we are from the school, so now we are going to try to drive her to school everyday and just use the bus going home. We're still confused by the process. My DH wanted to buy car seat to put on bus but they supply, right?

Re: Bus Vent
I got a call from our driver today who advised they are moving the bus pick up time even earlier. My child isn't 3 yet, the school is 17 minutes per google and now we are expected to put her on bus 1 hr and 15 mins before school starts? DH is po'd as he says he wouldn't have considered the school if he knew bus time was 5xs car time. Is this happening to anyone else?
