DH and I took an 8 hour class at our hospital yesterday all about labor, pain meds, postpartum, hospital tour, etc.

Today I took a breastfeeding class with a friend that is preggo.

We also picked up our stroller at the store!

I'm ready now!! Chat Icon

Did you learn a lot from the BFing class, I have so many questions and am thinking about taking a class. Would you recommend the one you went to?

Re: Busy Baby Prep Weekend!

The breastfeeding class was extremely helpful! I am sure things will change when I actually start doing it, but for now I feel relieved and educated. They talked about latching, benefits, the differences in the milk, how long to BF each time, how many times/day, signs that the baby is getting enough, nipple care, engorgement, pain, pumping if you go back to work etc.

I live in Chicago though, so I don't have a LI recommendation. But, I would think most classes are probably similar. One thing I really liked about mine was that they didn't "push" BFing, they didn't keep saying that you have to do it for a year or scare you from quitting. They were realistic and said they support whatever decision you make and feel that any BFing what-so-ever is a benefit to your baby, although longer does increase the benefits.
