Butterfly Cupcakes I Made (pics included)
I had DD's first birthday party last weekend and we did a "mod butterfly" theme. This was my first attempt at making cupcakes from scratch- from the batter to the frosting to the actual butterflies. I made vanilla bean cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting topped with chocolate butterflies. I boxed them up and sent each adult home with one as a favor.
This was my counter top after making 60 some odd butterflies:
This is a close-up of one of the cupcakes:
This is a sample of melting chocolate on to wax paper and drawing butterflies at 1 am the day of the party

those look awesome! did you get the butterfly idea from one of the food blogs? i think i saw those and it made me want my next baby to be a girl!

WOW! They are amazing! How do you make the butterflies? Just draw them on the wax paper and let them harden? SO cool!

The directions are in the book Hello Cupcake, takes some practice but once you get it they are easy!

Yup! I got it from the blog Annie Eats. She adapted it from the Hello Cupcake book that marieSand mentioned. A found a few food blogs that showed how to make these cupcakes, but this one's directions were the easiest for me.
Also, Annie's Vanilla Bean Cupcake recipe was so moist and delicious!

Great job!!
Baking the cupcakes wasn't bad, but making the wings took me like 3 hours. I burned the first batch of candy melts and had to start over. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn't so bad! They were yummy to eat!
