button down shirt help for my sister PLEASE!
She just got a retail job and the dress code is a WHITE button down shirt.
My sister is usually a Large in most tops, but she's neverrrr been able to wear buttons. She has a VERY large chest (38DDD), but average shoulders, arms, and waist.
Plus Sized clothing is way too large for her, but she has a really hard time finding anything in regular stores that buttons over her chest! She's tried Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, NY&Co, and Express.
I feel so bad for her... Any larger chested ladies have any ideas?
Thanks

Not large chested by FAR! But, has she looked in Target? Most button downs don't fit me either but they do from there! Good luck!

Re: button down shirt help for my sister PLEASE!
has she tried marshalls or TJmax?
eta: button downs don't always fit me right either, so maybe she'll have to try a few cuts and material types (spandex blend verses all cotton)

Re: button down shirt help for my sister PLEASE!
what about a mens shirt taken in?
since my DH is so much wider on the top then at his waist he has to get this done to make him not look like a box- it is usually not more then $15

I would definitely tell her to get a shirt that fits her chest, and then have the rest taken in. It's well worth the money to have the perfect fit!

Re: button down shirt help for my sister PLEASE!
I had a job where we HAD to wear button down shirts and I had the same issues as your sis, although i'm not as big in the cup. I had the best luck in NY & Co. but I still had the buttons pulling slightly right across the middle of my chest. I would wear a fairly high tank underneath and leave the top 2 buttons open.
It wasn't exactly dress code and I was told as such and I proceeded to button up my shirt, push the pulling section in the principal's face and said....is this better? I think not. He never really bothered me again

i always wear a tank top under the button down shirts, and usually leave a button or tow open...

Re: button down shirt help for my sister PLEASE!
i have the same problem w/button downs...but I bought a cute one at Club Monaco recently and it fit pretty decent. I hate that when the chest area of the shirt makes that gaping hole and the buttons look like theyre about to pop off-i think men must design these shirt!

I was watching What Not to Wear one day and their is a place in the city that only sells button down shirts for women and they go by your bust size. Maybe a place like that could help or wearing a minimizing bra and then trying on shirts.
